Fujitsu appointed as an Official Sponsor of Rugby World Cup 2015 in England

London, September 01, 2015

Fujitsu, a global leader in information and communication technology (ICT) solutions, today announced its agreement with Rugby World Cup Limited (RWCL) to become an official sponsor of Rugby World Cup 2015. This is the first time Fujitsu has sponsored Rugby’s signature event, which will kick off in Twickenham on September 18 and continue through to October 31.

Fujitsu is extremely active in its support for the sporting world, sponsoring both teams and individual athletes. Now, as an official sponsor of Rugby World Cup 2015, the company is building on its lengthy track record to support another of the world’s great team sports. This new sponsorship opportunity also demonstrates the prestige of Rugby World Cup, not only in the UK where the company has operated for nearly 50 years and employs 14,000 people, but also in markets around the world in which Fujitsu maintains a presence.

“To be associated with the Rugby World Cup 2015 Tournament is indeed an honor,” said Mitsutoshi Hirono, Corporate Executive Officer, SVP and Head of Innovation Business Group, Fujitsu Limited. “We at Fujitsu are proud and excited to support this world-class sporting event.”

“I am delighted and honoured that Fujitsu is supporting Rugby World Cup 2015.” said Regina Moran, CEO, UK & Ireland, Fujitsu. “As an ardent rugby supporter I love the excitement, the colour, the noise, the friendly interaction between supporters and the often nail-biting final mo-ments. But it’s the global nature of Rugby World Cup, bringing together teams and supporters from across the world and from many countries where Fujitsu operate, that make this a truly memorable event. Nations and people are united by that bond which rugby creates.”

World Rugby Chief Executive Brett Gosper said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Fujitsu to Rugby World Cup’s commercial family of globally-renowned brands.”

“The appointment of a market leader as an official sponsor, further reflects the significant appeal of an event that is on track to be a very special and record-breaking global celebration of rugby that will attract and inspire new participants.”
