Fujitsu ScanSnap – Parlez Francais

Fujitsu launches the ScanSnap S510M: “One-button” scanning to benefit Mac users

September 25, 2007

Fujitsu Europe Limited unveils its newest one-button scanning solution – ScanSnap S510M - at today´s Apple Expo opening in Paris/France. Purely designed for the Apple Macintosh platform, the S510M is the first ScanSnap model within the Mac environment to create searchable PDF files from paper documents by simply pressing a button. Fujitsu´s new compact-size document colour duplex scanner comes with a full license of Adobe® Acrobat® 8.0 Professional (Mac version) and can be seen in the Apple Expo Business Innovation Village, which is hosted by Computers Unlimited, Hall 5, Porte de Versailles through 29th of September.

One-button scanning approach
Fujitsu´s ScanSnap S510M is a sheet fed document scanner for unattended and uninterrupted ad hoc document scanning at the desktop for personal support within a professional office environment based on the Apple Macintosh infrastructure. This includes the scanner´s ability to automatically convert scanned data into searchable PDF files that support information retrieval through Mac OS® X and Adobe® Acrobat® searches.
Whether day-to-day business correspondence, business cards or multi-colour brochures and documents up to A3 in size, the S510M scans each document via a simple “one-button” approach, with speeds of up to 18 pages per minute in both black and white as well as colour, scanning batches of up to 50 pages, at such speeds. In duplex mode, capturing front and back pages in a single run, the scanning speed increases to 36 images per minute. Its scanning resolutions range from 150 dpi to 1,200 dpi, with an optical resolution of 600 dpi.

Optimised paper management
Through the scanner´s automatic de-skewing function, documents, which may have been scanned-in at a slight angle, will be correctly re-aligned and brought into proper position. Automatic blank page detection will ensure that any scanned blank pages are automatically recognised and deleted. The scanner´s 50-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF) can be topped up whilst the scanner is in operation.

New office linkage functions
Key features also include the scanner´s extensive office linkage functions, for example, utilising the ScanSnap S510M for attaching scanned images to e-mail messages.

Compact in size
With its small footprint of (W) 284 x (D) 157 x (H) 158 mm, smaller than an A4 size notebook computer, the ScanSnap S510M will sit comfortably on any desktop making it an optimal solution for efficient and convenient day-to-day scanning.
“We have seen the Fujitsu ScanSnap concept for easy unattended office document scanning being so much appreciated by the Apple community over the course of the last two years. Now we are proud to further expand our commitment to this market by making ScanSnap captured paper document information instantly electronically retrievable,” declares Klaus Schulz, Manager, Product & Channel Marketing EMEA.

Price and availability
The Fujitsu ScanSnap S510M is available for a recommended retail sales price of € 479 plus VAT. First units are exclusively offered at Apple Expo Paris, with availability in the EMEA distribution channel at the end of October 2007.
