NDK Product Overview

Crystal Units

Crystal unit is a passive component using piezo-electrical effect of the crystal. By applying the voltage, transformation occurs in the crystal and it oscillates frequency of high-stability with the natural resonant frequency of vibration.

SPXO (Simple Packaged Crystal Oscillators)

Clock Oscillator is applicable to clock use and small size crystal oscillator, crystal oscillator simply combined with crystal unit and oscillation circuit including differential output products (e.g., PECL output or LVDS output) and Automotive safety (ex.ASV)

TCXO (Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillators)

TCXO is the Crystal Oscillator with good temperature characteristics of Crystal unit and opposite temperature characteristics circuit (temperature compensation circuit) across a wide temperature range.

VCXO / VCSO (Voltage-Controlled Crystal /SAW Oscillators)

VCXO has variable capacitance diodes inserted in series with a Crystal unit, and the capacitances of the diodes are changed by the application of an external voltage which causes the Oscillator to develop frequency variations. VCSO is a voltage controlled oscillator using SAW (Surface Acoustic Wave) resonator. Output frequency is varied by an external voltage.

FCXO (Frequency Controlled Crystal Oscillators)

FCXO is the Crystal Oscillator module, that can create an output frequency synchronized to an external input standard frequency.

High Precision Oscillators (OCXO / Twin-OCXO / Twin-DCXO)

OCXO has oven-controlled Crystal Oscillator, and has much better temperature Characteristics. The ambient temperature of its Crystal unit is kept a constant by a thermostatic oven.

High precision detection of the oven temperature is carried out with a twin crystal oscillator, and the new technology which performs temperature control by digital signal processing realizes the world highest performance as the class OCXO.

Environmental temperature is detected with high precision with a twin crystal,and the new technology which rectifies output frequency realized the highest performance in the world as an oscillator which does not use oven structure.

Crystal Filters

Crystal Filter can take out only a necessary frequency ingredient and attenuate an unnecessary frequency ingredient.

SAW Devices (Surface Acoustic Wave)

A SAW device has a structure of comb-like electrode on film or board of the piezoelectric substrate, with regular pattern, and takes out an electrical signal of the specific frequency band by exciting surface wave. SAW device is used for high frequency band applications.


Biosenser (QCM sensor) and bio-molecular interaction analyzers (QCM systems) working with the QCM method. QCM stands for Quartz Crystal Microbalance which is a small mass measurement method with Crystal unit which works as sensor.
