Fujitsu’s showcases latest Human Centric Innovation at Fujitsu Innovation Gathering 2015 in Madrid

London and Madrid, May 26, 2015 – Fujitsu Laboratories of Europe Ltd. today announces the final line-up of advanced technologies and innovative solutions on show at the Fujitsu Innovation Gathering 2015, taking place at the IFEMA North venue in Madrid on 9th June. Fourteen of Fujitsu Laboratories group’s latest innovations will be on show, illustrating how Fujitsu is applying its R&D expertise to address important social issues. A number of the demonstrations are making their first ever appearance outside of Japan at the Fujitsu Innovation Gathering 2015, providing a unique insight into Fujitsu’s latest innovative solutions including healthcare, environment monitoring, tourism, transportation and document digitization.
The Fujitsu Innovation Gathering 2015 is taking place alongside the Fujitsu World Tour, and is expected to attract over 1800 visitors during the one-day event. The keynote sessions include a joint presentation from Fujitsu Spain’s Managing Director Angeles Delgado and Dr Hideyuki Saso, CEO and Representative Director of Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. on the subject of Human Centric Innovation and its importance for business and society. The agenda includes high level guest speakers such as Dr. Julio Mayol, Director of Innovation at the Institute of Healthcare Research of the San Carlos Clinical Hospital of Madrid, and Dr. Ramón González Carvajal, Vice Rector for Technology Transfer at the University of Seville. There will also be the presentation of awards for the Fujitsu Linked Open Data Challenge for Spain 2015, including the Fujitsu Laboratories of Europe Innovation Award for the best overall entry. The winning entries will be demonstrated in the Open Data Corner, situated within the Fujitsu World Tour exhibition area.

The solutions on show from Fujitsu Laboratories group include:

  • A novel LED light technology, capable of unlocking data just by shining a special light on an object, bringing together real-world objects and ICT – for example in retail enviornments, or museums.
  • A ring-type wearable device for facilitating hands-free operations, turning air-written fingertip movements into letterform tracings and improving efficiency in industrial applications.
  • A medical image registration solution that enables faster and more efficient cancer detection.
  • High-precision flood forecasting simulation for disaster mitigation based on mathematical parameter optimization.
  • An intelligent transportation solution using video surveillance and analysis for automatic traffic monitoring.
  • Ultra fast image video surveillance, enhancing standard CCTV images to aid the detection of forest fires, improve aircraft manoevering in poor weather conditions, and improve traffic safety.
  • Personalized services, based on the Coelition standard for human behavior data.
  • Contactless largescale image stitching, as a cost-effective solution for preserving ancient documents.

The Fujitsu Innovation Gathering represents an important opportunity to spotlight the growing number of active local initiatives resulting from collaborations with Spanish academia and research organisations. These include projects with the University of Seville, the Institute of Healthcare Research of San Carlos Clinical Hospital, and local government organizations.
