Fujitsu Introduces the Next Generation ScanSnap S1300i Compact Scanner

S1300i Delivers a Faster Scanning Speed and Connectivity with More Cloud Services and Mobile Devices

Fujitsu, a leading provider of ICT-based business solutions announce today the release of the ScanSnap S1300i compact scanner. The new model will be available for sale on June 25, 2012.

The new Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300i delivers a faster scanning speed of 12ppm (24ipm), a 50% increase in speed as compared to its predecessor the ScanSnap S1300.(*1) With the addition of the leading cloud application Dropbox and the ScanSnap Folder software feature, the S1300i allow users to directly scan, store and share their information easily with more cloud and software applications.(*2) The ScanSnap Connect mobile application which previously only caters for iPad® and iPhone® users to view scanned PDF on their devices is now also available to AndroidTM smartphones and tablets users.(*3)

The S1300i continues to deliver the intuitive scanning features such as automatic color detection, de-skewing, orientation and blank page removal to ensure that quality scans are produced easily. With a paper chute that accommodates up to ten pages, the ScanSnap S1300i caters to consumers and office professionals needs to digitize paper media ranging from business cards, legal size documents and even long documents up to 863mm in length with just a touch on the scan button. The ultra-compact design of the S1300i coupled with its ability to be powered by USB connection allows mobile users to scan anywhere with their computer even when AC power sources are not available.(*4)

The new key features that come with S1300i include the following:

  • ScanSnap Folder for Windows®:
    This new innovation function allows users to directly attach and upload their digital scans to a wide range of applications including cloud services. This helps to reduce the time and effort needed for users to save the data on the computer first before transferring to their preferred application and this translates to higher productivity.(*5)
  • Scan to cloud service Dropbox for Windows® and Mac®:
    The S1300i features the latest Quick Menu which now includes Dropbox, one of today’s leading online syncing and storage services. Now with an additional cloud service to choose from, ScanSnap S1300i users will enjoy having more choices for their cloud applications needs.
  • ScanSnap Connect Application now available for AndroidTM devices:
    The popular ScanSnap Connect mobile application for viewing and saving PDF files from ScanSnap scanners directly into iPad® and iPhone® devices is now available to AndroidTM users.

Designed to run on both Windows® and Mac® platforms, the ScanSnap S1300i continues to offer users the following software bundle for organizing their documents:

  • ScanSnap Manager 5.1 for Windows® and ScanSnap Manager 3.2 for Mac®:
    The ScanSnap manager offers users with the Quick Menu and custom profile modes. The Quick Menu can automatically pop up after scanning to allow users to scan into their choice of office and cloud applications such as email, PDF, JPEG, mobile devices, Google Docs™ and Evernote®. Armed with a top-class ABBYY FineReader OCR engine for Windows® and Mac®, Scansnap S1300i users can convert scanned documents into Microsoft applications such as Word® and Excel® file formats for further editing.(*6)
  • CardMinder 4.1 for Windows® and Cardiris 4.0 for Mac®:
    These business card management software stores digitized business cards and encode the text data for common contact management applications like email, databases, Address Book for Mac users, Excel® for Windows users and more.
  • ScanSnap Organizer 4.1 for Windows®:
    The ScanSnap Organizer offers Windows users a convenient way to store, manage and preview PDF and JPEG scanned files. The software can also update PDF image files to text-searchable PDF or conduct batch processing for multiple PDF files. The keyword search feature can help users find the information within multiple PDF documents easily and quickly.

Starting from 22 June 2012, current users of S1500/ S1500M/ S1300 and S1100 can update their existing software bundles by visiting the global Fujitsu website for ScanSnap software downloads (http://www.fujitsu.com/global/support/computing/peripheral/scanners/software/index.html).

    This scanning speed is achieved when ScanSnap scans A4 size documents with AC power in normal mode (color 150dpi).

    ScanSnap Folder is a software function that only works for Windows® users and is intended for cloud services and software applications which are capable of accepting uploading and attachment of PDF, JPEG or non-specific file types.

  • [*3] Fujitsu Introduces the Next Generation ScanSnap S1300i Compact Scanner

    Starting from 22 June 2012, ScanSnap Connect Application will be available as a free download from the Google Play. Please note that the users are solely responsible for any data transmission costs that arise from downloading the free mobile application. To transmit data to the mobile device, the user must ensure that both the mobile device and the computer connected to ScanSnap are Wi-Fi enabled and running concurrently. Please note that ScanSnap Connect mobile application may not work with all devices running on AndroidTM OS 2.2 or later. Please check the ScanSnap product homepage for the list of the latest devices supported by the application.

    Two USB 3.0/ USB 2.0/ USB 1.1 open ports are required for USB operations. One for power and the other for data transmission. The USB Mini-B connector is required for the data transmission cable.

    ScanSnap Folder uses a temporary folder for receiving and passing data between the ScanSnap device and application and cloud service. The data stored in this folder is automatically deleted after a number of days.

    While Microsoft® Word, Excel® and PowerPoint® are available to Windows users, only Microsoft® Word and Excel® are available for Mac users. Generated business card images and text data may vary from the original document.
