Fujitsu Simplifies and Unifies Cloud Management with New ServerView Resource Orchestrator V3

Fujitsu Asia Pte Ltd.

Singapore, November 28, 2011

Fujitsu today globally announced a new cutting-edge version of Fujitsu ServerView Resource Orchestrator – a powerful and proven cloud management approach that makes it easy to build, extend, and consolidate private cloud infrastructures. The new Fujitsu ServerView Resource Orchestrator V3 delivers enhanced cloud management capability, providing enterprise-class multi-tenant system platform support allowing organizations to transform their static data centers into dynamic resource delivery centers. Incorporating new features proven in Fujitsu’s own public cloud data centers around the world, customers can easily introduce an optimized private cloud infrastructure that will dramatically lower their total cost of ICT ownership.

Background

As the development successor to Fujitsu’s resource management software (ServerView Resource Coordinator and Cloud Infrastructure Management Software), Fujitsu ServerView Resource Orchestrator offers a complete range of scalable, and integrated private cloud infrastructure orchestration functions. These fit with all levels of cloud maturity (server consolidation, virtualization, standardization, hybrid, and full self-service cloud), delivering the right level of automation that ensures seamless administrative control and cost containment.

To deal with the ever-increasing operational complexity of user authorization, physical/virtual server relationships, storage, and network topology; ServerView Resource Orchestrator provides easy-to use, self-service portal operation.

The self-service portal feature enables users to select and customize their own systems based on pre-defined resource configurations. Fujitsu’s approach fully handles the coordinated resource orchestration functions that enable administrators to manage and develop all the necessary menu-based service deployment options. Its dashboard feature further allows administrators and users to see exactly how many resources are being used, helping them ensure that the services they have selected are utilized cost-effectively and to their maximum efficiency.

ServerView Resource Orchestrator V3: New Features

With server consolidation, virtualization, and private cloud environments now in the mainstream, data center management is challenged by the additional requirements in new dimensions. This includes operational efficiency of multi-tier systems, and assured security of systems based on both physical and virtual server deployments. The following are the highlights of the new features for meeting such requirements:

  • Automated provisioning of multi-tier physical and virtual systems using predefined templates
Template-based automated provisioning of multi-tier server systems including physical and virtual servers, storage, network switches, and firewalls greatly reduces the burden of management and removes human error.
  • Enhanced security in multi-tenant private cloud environments
By splitting ICT resources management on a tenant-by-tenant basis and separating infrastructure and pre-tenant service administrator roles, the software offers security enhancements in multi-tenant private cloud environments.
  • Business continuity with Disaster Recovery options
Disaster Recovery options, announced together in conjunction with ServerView Resource Orchestrator, ensure business continuation for customer systems, enabling fast switchover from the active site to the predetermined standby site. The cost barrier of introducing Disaster Recovery is greatly reduced by dynamic resource orchestration that eliminates the requirements of physically exact identical site configurations.

"With its unified resource management capability, Fujitsu ServerView Resource Orchestrator V3 greatly simplifies the tasks of managing diversified multi-tenant cloud resources." stated Yoichi Hori, President of Platform Software Business Unit at Fujitsu Limited. "This software is one of Fujitsu’s core strategic products, and reflects our dedicated approach to making cloud computing both simple and successful. In collaboration with our global public cloud service ‘Fujitsu Global Cloud Platform’ and our newly released ‘DI Blocks’ for private cloud, Fujitsu continues to lead the way in cloud computing by ensuring customers can achieve maximum benefits from the latest technologies.”

ServerView Resource Orchestrator V3 is available worldwide, from today.
