Singapore, September 25, 2008
Leading regional IT and communications solutions provider Fujitsu Asia today unveiled the fi-6670 and fi-6770 colour A3 production scanners for the ASEAN markets.
The fi-6770 supports an Automated Document Feeder (ADF) as well as flatbed scanning while the fi-6670 offers standalone ADF functionality. Among commercially available low-volume production scanners, the fi-6770 is faster and more cost-effective than its counterparts while the fi-6670 ranks as the fastest in its class.
This new range of scanners has been improved with excellent dust proofing and has been tested to operate effectively in highly polluted conditions. Reliability is boosted with a robust shaft and the recommended volume usage is 15,000 sheets per day, almost double that of the models they are replacing.
Compared to the scanner models they are replacing -Fi-5650 & Fi-5750, scanning speed has been improved to 180 ipm at 200dpi for coloured documents, compared to 128ipm at 200dpi previously for older models. Now documents placed in landscape orientation can be digitised in 0.6 seconds and 0.7 seconds at 200dpi and 300dpi respectively
In ADF mode and at 300dpi, A4-sized colour, greyscale or monochrome documents in landscape orientation can undergo simplex (one-sided) or duplex (two-sided) scanning at 80 pages per minute (ppm) or 160 images per minute (ipm) respectively. At 200dpi ADF mode, landscape-oriented A4 documents are scanned at 90ppm or 180ipm.
In either mode, the output resolution can be adjusted in 1dpi increments from 50dpi to 600dpi, for precise control over the quality and size of resultant image files.
Both scanners are engineered to support mixed batch scanning. Up to 200 documents of different weights, thicknesses and sizes – such as papers, pamphlets and photographs – can be continuously scanned in a batch, for enhanced productivity. Furthermore, both products are able to scan documents that are up to 3m long, which allow them to digitise materials such as electrocardiograms or instrumental data readings.
The fi-6670 and fi-6770 can also be fitted with an optional colour graphics adapter (CGA) board, to boost image processing functionality and performance. The CGA board allows the scanners to create sharper images from documents that are stained or have dark colours in their backgrounds, for improved image clarity. The fi-6670 can also be fitted with an optional imprinter that allows dates, document names or other details to be printed on the original documents, for easy reference in future.
The products also incorporate powerful functions including:
- Tab-cropping and punch hole removal, to produce seamless scanned images
- intelligent multifeed, which eliminates the possibility of false multifeed alerts
- automatic colour recognition, size recognition and deskew, which improves scanning efficiency
- premium output resolution of up to 600dpi, to produce sharper scanned images
The proprietary bundled ScandAll PRO image capture software offers functions such as:
- barcode and patchcode reading, for time savings when digitising and separating different scan jobs
- Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Server compatibility, for enhanced document administration
Value-added software bundled with the scanners are Adobe Acrobat 8 and Kofax VRS Pro Ver 4.2.
Compatible with Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2000, the fi-6670 and fi-6770 offer the Universal Serial Bus (USB) or Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) connectivity options.
The new Fujitsu fi-6670 and fi-6770 colour A3 production scanners are priced at S$5300 and S$6250 respectively, and are available for the ASEAN (including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Philippines, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam & Cambodia) markets with immediate effect.
