Leading regional IT and communications solutions provider Fujitsu Asia Pte Ltd today launched the fi-5530C colour duplex A3 scanner, the smallest product in its class that uses ultrasonic multi-feed detection to make batch scanning more efficient.

Engineered to be an enhanced version of Fujitsu’s earlier fi-4530C scanner, the fi-5530C incorporates an ultrasonic multi-feed sensor that automatically detects if more than one document has been fed into the device’s automatic document feeder (ADF) at any time. This ensures that no document in a stack will be accidentally left unscanned, and results in complete batch scanning.

With Straight Paper Path technology, the ADF scanner digitises both sides of embossed cards (such as credit cards, driving licenses and identity cards) simultaneously, thus eliminating the hassle of having to digitise each side separately.

Colour, greyscale or monochrome documents can be scanned at an input resolution of 200 dots per inch (dpi). Simplex scanning of one-sided A4-sized documents in portrait orientation can be executed at 35 pages per minute (ppm) while duplex scanning of two-sided A4-sized portrait documents can be performed at 70 images per minute (ipm).

The fi-5530C offers true 600dpi optical resolution, which enables it to precisely capture intricate details in documents such as fine lines, small text and cluttered diagrams. Output images can be produced at resolutions between 50dpi and 600dpi. Output resolutions can be adjusted in 1dpi increments, giving users tremendous control over the quality and size of each output file.

Designed to digitise up to 5,000 sheets – such as cards, paper, photographs and transparencies – per day, the fi-5530C supports documents of sizes ranging from A8 (52mm x 74mm) to A3 (297mm x 420mm). The ADF holds a maximum of 100 sheets, each with a maximum permissible length of 34 inches (about 864mm).

Output files are stored in Portable Document Format (PDF) using the bundled Adobe Acrobat 7.0 (standard version) program, which allows users to:

  • Locate, print and view PDF files
  • Create PDF documents from numerous applications
  • Combine several files into a single PDF document
  • Protect documents via passwords
  • Organise comments from multiple reviewers with sorting and filtering tools

In addition, the fi-5530C supports an optional duplex imprinter – available separately – that allows document names or codes to be printed on the scanned documents, for easy reference in future.

Designed with a foldable output tray, the fi-5530C has a small footprint and thus is ideal for scanning documents within the confines of a cramped environment. Possible areas of deployment include verticals such as banking, education, finance, healthcare and manufacturing.

The new Fujitsu fi-5530C colour duplex A3 scanner is priced at S$4,760 and is available immediately. Refer to the Appendix, visit http://sg.fujitsu.com/scanner or contact Fujitsu Asia at 6512-7555/7431 for more details.
