Ultra-fast, Compact Printer Unit Provides Features for High-end KIOSK Use

A compact and ultra-high-speed thermal printer unit is now available from Fujitsu Components Asia, Limited. The unit’s high reliability and compact design is targeted to high-end kiosk output applications such as POS, ATM, receipt and ticket issuing equipment.

The 24V-driven, FTP-639USL001 printer unit includes a 3-inch printer, a cutter that performs full or partial cuts, an integrated paper feed and paper guide section, and a miniature serial control board. These components are supported within a compact, die-cast frame to simplify mounting. The unit measures 141mm [5.64in] (W) x 158mm [6.32 in] (D) x 108mm [4.32] (H) and weighs 1.25 kilograms.

The printer has an optimum output speed of 200mm/second. It can also print at a medium (50mm/sec) or low (30mm/sec) speed, which will reduce power consumption. Its operating life is rated at over 500,000 cuts or 100 million pulses.

The printer has an operating temperature range of 0 to +50 degrees C. The unit’s die-cast frame can provide electrostatic protection and heat retention or dissipation, depending on the application, enabling the printer to function in outdoor or temperature-varying environments.

The unit includes a paper presenter that retains the paper inside the unit until it is cut to prevent damage to the printer. It also features a paper collector, which automatically retracts the paper after a predetermined time to minimize trash from unwanted receipts.

To minimize paper changes, the printer accommodates up to 10-inch diameter paper rolls. When paper replacement is necessary, however, Fujitsu’s easy-load feed mechanism releases the platen assembly instead of the thermal head to give full access to the paper route.
