Windows Server 2016

Overview of Editions How to license right More Information
The new licensing model: Core-based Licensing

Windows Server 2016 Standard and Datacenter Editions work with a new licensing model – based on physical cores rather than processors.

To license your individually configured FUJITSU Server PRIMERGY, follow three easy steps:

  • Step 1: Look at the core count per processor: A minimum of 8 cores per processor must be licensed
  • Step 2: Look at the core count per system: A minimum of 16 cores per server must be licensed
  • Step 3: To be compliant all physical cores must be licensed

No VM rights are granted until all cores are licensed. When all the cores have been licensed, you get the rights for two VMs with Windows Server 2016 Standard.
