FPI College Scholarship Grant
FPI started its Scholarship Grant in 1990, to support deserving but economically disadvantaged university students as they pursue a course leading to a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or any related field of Information Technology. Qualification is based on the on past scholastic achievements, potential scholastic/professional capabilities, and financial need. FPI shoulders the full cost of academic tuition fees, other school fees, and books. Currently, FPI scholarships are offered at the Ateneo de Manila University, University of Santo Tomas, University of Asia and the Pacific, Mapua Institute of Technology, and the Don Bosco Technical Institute.
The FPI scholar must take a course in Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field of Information Technology, and must additionally take Japanese language lessons. Qualification is based on the recommendation of the individual schools, which is generally based on past scholastic achievements of the applicant, as well as his potential scholastic/professional capabilities. Recommended students are further interviewed by FPI management, with the chosen scholar generally selected on need.
The scholar must enjoy any other similar financial assistance from other sources. While he is an FPI scholar, the student is expected to maintain above average passing marks. He may not drop any subject without prior approval by the student affairs director of the university concerned. The FPI scholar is not allowed to accept any kind of employment while he is on the scholarship, as they are encouraged to concentrate full-time on their studies. Within the FPI group, Ms. Marivic Que of FPI's Human Resource Division serves as the coordinator for the program.
