Encryption Technology

Abstract

Encryption technology is one of the important research fields in Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. We mainly study security evaluations of cryptosystems and efficient implementations of encryption algorithms. Information security technology, which is a fundamental necessity for electronic commerce and electronic government, has in recent years been attracting a great deal of attention in the field of information technology. Encryption technology in particular is coming into the limelight. There are two types of encryption technology: secret key cryptosystems and public key cryptosystems.

Concerning secret key cryptosystems, Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. and Fujitsu Limited have jointly developed a new block cipher, SC2000. Concerning public key cryptosystems, Fujitsu has joined and made contribution to the SECG (Standards for Efficient Cryptography Group) consortium, which aims at establishing standards for Elliptic Curve Cryptosystem(ECC). ECC is expected to become the key technology in next-generation public key cryptosystems.

We hope that our encryption technologies will be widely used in supporting services on the Internet.
