Fujitsu Ireland Supporting Young ICT Professionals

Fujitsu UK & Ireland

Dublin, November 30, 2015

Fujitsu Ireland has announced a new partnership with FIT (fastrack to IT). The company is, initially, taking on four candidates with the FIT ICT Associate Professional training programme for 18 months with the intake set to increase in the future. The move signifies the continued growth of Fujitsu Ireland following their announcement of 35 new jobs in October of this year.

FIT (fastrack to IT) is an industry-led initiative which works with government departments, education and training agencies, local development organisations and community based organisations to provide those at risk of long-term unemployment with marketable technical skills. FIT operates numerous courses that are designed to give jobs seekers the skills to compete for sustainable jobs in the emerging knowledge economy.

Welcoming the announcement, Cathleen Doohan, HR and Corporate Social Responsibility Director for Fujitsu Ireland, said: “Fujitsu Ireland is delighted to be working with the FIT ICT Associate Professional programme.  FIT programmes provide jobs seekers with excellent technical skills and real hands-on experience.  We are looking forward to providing an opportunity for the participants to apply their technical education and training to a real work setting.  This programme offers the candidates a great chance to build confidence in their abilities. Last month, we announced our intention to recruit 35 employees over the next six months, across a variety of technical and business roles and this move exemplifies Fujitsu Ireland’s continued growth strategy.”

The FIT ICT Associate Professional is a two-year apprenticeship-style, ICT skills training and development programme. It is based on the ‘learn and earn’ model and the participant will attain a level 6 ICT and Professional Development Qualification and be awarded the title of FIT ICT Associate Professional by the industry. The first 6 months are college-based where the candidate will acquire the technical knowledge. The remaining 18 months are a combination of work-place application and college-based learning where the candidates will be able to apply their knowledge to work within Fujitsu Ireland.
