Recovery DVD Replacement Exercise

Asia Pacific, January 10, 2008 — It was recently discovered that the Windows Vista® Recovery Software CD bundled together with some Fujitsu Notebooks bearing serial number [C070503928 to C071017662] does not operate entirely as indicated in its on-screen “Instructions for use”. While the instructions state that only the data on the C drive will be deleted and that the D drive will be unaffected, it will in fact erase all data on the hard disk (including that on both the C and D drives).

The new free replacement Recovery and Utility software CD you receive will only erase data on the C drive, as indicated in its on-screen “Instructions for use” during the recovery process, and will leave the D drive unaffected.

We therefore strongly recommend that you should use the replacement Recovery and Utility software CD instead of the Recovery and Utility software CD originally provided. If, however, you still choose to do so then you should first back up all of your data on both the C and D drives before performing recovery in order to avoid any important data losses. Please note that if, despite this warning, you choose to operate the original Recovery and Utility software CD provided then Fujitsu will not be responsible for any loss of data (or any connected loss or damage) suffered by you or any third party whatsoever.
