I cannot connect iX100 to the computer/mobile device via a public wireless LAN

There are two possible reasons:

  1. The user authentication may be required for using the public wireless LAN in places like hotels or airports.
  2. In most public wireless LAN the privacy separator is enabled which prohibits communications among terminals connecting to the same LAN for security reasons. In such environment, you cannot connect ScanSnap iX100 to the computer/mobile device via Wi-Fi. You will not be able to use Direct Connect mode to connect ScanSnap iX100 wirelessly within the range where the wireless network (SSID) covers. Use ScanSnap iX100 in the wireless LAN environment where the privacy separator is disabled if you would like to connect via Wi-Fi.

If you have set your ScanSnap iX100 to connect to the public wireless LAN accidently, follow the instructions below:

When you cannot use the computer:
You can force ScanSnap iX100 to switch to Direct Connect mode by operating from the scanner.

When you can use the computer:
You can remove the unnecessary wireless network (SSDI of the public wireless LAN) with ScanSnap Wireless Setup Tool. After it is being removed, exit the tool and then connect the ScanSnap in Direct Connect mode.
