An unexpected error occurs with the following message when starting up ScanSnap Home or when scanning with ScanSnap Home.

"An unexpected error occurred. Exit the application, and then try again. If the problem still persists, reinstall ScanSnap Home."


Follow the steps below to solve the error:

Restart the computer and try again.
If the error still occurs, confirm the following points that can cause the error:

  • Insufficient free disk space
    If the free disk space is 200 MB or less, increase free disk space of the drive and try again.
  • ScanSnap Home is not activated
    Go to [Preferences] >[Account] on ScanSnap Home and confirm that the license activation is performed.
  • Long page scanning with image quality set to Excellent
    (ScanSnap iX500 and iX100 only)
    Specify another setting for image quality and try again.


If the problem persists, uninstall ScanSnap Home, and then install the latest version of ScanSnap Home.

If the problem occurred after reinstallation, please contact a local Fujitsu near you.
