Replacing the Consumables

When replacing the consumables, follow their respective procedures as given below.


ScanningCAUTION: Before replacing the consumables, be sure to clear the page counter for the consumable that you want to replace.
For information on how to clear the counter, refer to (4).

(1)Replacing the Pick Rollers

  1. Remove all documents from the stacker.
  2. Push up the ADF release tab to open the ADF.

  3. Open the pick roller cover.

    Grab the tabs on each side of the roller cover, and pull down the cover towards you.

  4. Pull the pick rollers off the rotating shaft as you grab the tabs on the rollers (×2).

  5. Install a new set of pick rollers (×2) in the scanner in the reverse order of the removal.
  6. Close the roller cover.
  7. Close the ADF.

    Push the ADF until it locks in.

    ScanningCAUTION:
    • When closing the ADF, make sure that nothing is left inside the ADF.
    • Be careful not to have your fingers caught when the ADF closes.

  8. Reset the pick roller counter. See (4).

 

(2)Replacing the Separator Roller

  1. Remove all documents from the stacker.
  2. Push up the ADF release tab to open the ADF.

  3. Open the separator roller cover.

    Grab the tabs on each side of the roller cover with your fingers and pull down the cover towards you.

  4. Pull down the lever which is located on the right side of the separator roller.

  5. Pull down the lever which is located on the left side of the separator roller.

  6. Pull the lever on the left side of the separator roller towards you, and remove it with the shaft.

  7. Install the new separator roller on the scanner.

    Install the separator roller. Insert the right side of the shaft first, then the left so that the tab fits in the groove.

  8. Push up the lever which is located on the left side of the separator roller.

  9. Push up the lever which is located on the right side of the separator roller.

  10. Close the roller cover.

  11. Close the ADF.

    Push the ADF until it locks in.


    ScanningCAUTION:
    • When closing the ADF, make sure that nothing is left inside the ADF.

  12. Reset the separator roller counter. See (4).

 

(3)Replacing the Brake Roller

  1. Remove all documents from the hopper.
  2. If the hopper has been raised, bring it back down to the lower position.

    To lower the hopper, press the [Scanning ] button while holding down the [Eject] button on the scanner's operator panel.

  3. Push up the ADF release tab to open the ADF.

  4. Open the brake roller cover.

    Lift up the cover from the lower middle.

  5. Remove the brake roller.

    Lift the left side of the roller first, then pull it out towards the left.

  6. Install the new brake roller on the scanner.

    Install the brake roller. Insert the right side of the shaft first, then the right side.

  7. Close the roller cover.
  8. Close the ADF.

    Press the ADF down until it locks in.

  9. Reset the brake roller counter. See (4).

(4)Clearing the Page Counters for Individual Consumables

  1. Turn on the scanner, and then confirm that the scanner is connected to your computer.
  2. From the [Start] menu in Windows, select [All Programs] → [fi Series] → [Software Operation Panel].

    → The Software Operation Panel appears.

  3. Select [Device Setting].

    → The following dialog box appears. Scanning

  4. Click the [Clear] button for the replaced consumable.

    → The counter value is reset to "0".

  5. Click the [OK] button in the Software Operation Panel.
