Multifeed detection conditions

Multifeeds are detected according to the settings of document length and overlapping pages. These settings can be configured in the TWAIN driver dialog box. To obtain a reliable multifeed detection, the document has to satisfy the requirements shown below:

Checking overlapping:

  • Paper weight: 31 g/m² - 209 g/m² (8.3 lb to 56.1 lb)
  • Punched holes are not allowed within 35 mm (1.4 in) of the vertical lines of the center, right and left sides of the the document as shown in Fig. 1.
  • Other paper shall not be glued within 35 mm (1.4 in) of the vertical lines of the center, right and left sides of the the document as shown in Fig. 1.

Checking length

(Load only documents of the same length onto the hopper.)

  • Document length deviation: 1% or less
  • Punched holes are not allowed within 35 mm (1.4 in.) of the vertical centerline of the document as shown in Fig.2.

Checking overlapping and length

(Load only documents of the same length and thickness onto the hopper.)

  • Paper weight:
    • For A4/Letter size or smaller: 31 g/m² - 209 g/m² (8.3 Ib to 56.1 Ib)
    • For B4 size or larger: 52 g/m² - 157 g/m² (14 Ib to 42.1 Ib)
  • Document length deviation: 1% or less
  • There should not be any punched holes within 35 mm (1.4 in.) of the vertical lines of the center, right and left sides of the the document as shown in Fig. 1.
  • Other papers should not be glued within 35 mm (1.4 in.) of the vertical lines of the center, right and left sides of the the document as shown in Fig. 1.
  • Scanning

CAUTION: Multifeed detection is not very effective when the papers are stuck together due to static, pasting etc.
