Document quality

  1. Document requirements

    Recommended paper types:

    • Paper containing some wood fibers
    • Paper free of wood fibers

    When using documents other than the above, it is recommended to perform a test-scanning with a few sheets of the same paper type in order to check whether or not the documents can be fed without problems.
    These documents below may not be scanned successfully.
    To avoid unexpected errors, perform a test-scanning with a few sheets of the same paper type, or scan on the flatbed if you use fi-6770(A) /fi-6750S.

    • Documents of non-uniform thickness (e.g. envelopes)
    • Wrinkled or curled documents (See following figure)

    • Folded or torn documents
    • Tracing paper
    • Coated paper
    • Carbon paper
    • Carbonless paper
    • Photosensitive paper
    • Perforated or punched documents
    • Pages that are not square or rectangular
    • Very thin paper

     

    Do not scan the following documents with the ADF.
    However, those documents other than the paper with ink still wet can be scanned with the flatbed.

    • Documents with clips or staples.
    • Paper with ink still wet
    • Documents composed of fabric, metal foil or transparencies
    • Document pages smaller than A8 (portrait) size
    • Documents wider than A3 (297mm=11.7 in.) or longer than 431.8mm (=17 in.)
    • Important documents such as certificates and cash vouchers that must not get scratched or become smeared.

    If there are any punched holes in the shaded area shown in the following figure, this might lead to errors.

  4. Paper thickness is expressed by paper weight. The following shows the paperweight that is supported with this scanner:

    • A4/Letter size or smaller : 31 g/m2(8.3 lb) - 209 g/m2(55.6 lb)
    • Larger than A4/Letter: 52 g/m2 ( 13.9lb) - 209g/m2(55.6 lb)
    • A8 size: 127 g/m2 ( 34lb) - 209g/m2(55.6 lb)
