ScanSnap Language support expansion – to Asia and European countries

Software enhancements to improve your scanning experience

Yokohama, Japan, June 14, 2016– PFU LIMITED, a subsidiary of Fujitsu Ltd., today announced the enhancement of ScanSnap Series by expanding language support for ScanSnap Receipt / Searchable PDF, and adopting Nuance Communications, Inc.’s PDF editing software which enables to read/save directly from/to cloud with various PDF editing functions.

OCR language supporting for Searchable PDF now covers not only the languages of Western countries, but also Eastern & Northern Europe, Middle East and Asia. Moreover, adopting Nuance’s high functional PDF editing software, it enables ScanSnap to work with cloud services more efficiently. Key feature enhancements for ScanSnap include:

Broad Language Support for your documents’ digitization needs

• Combinations of receipt scanning currencies and languages expanded to Asia
  ScanSnap Receipt now supports Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean and Singaporean in addition to the already available 9 countries’ receipts. Total of 13 countries’ receipts are now supported.
• OCR support with wider range of languages for your convenience
  You can easily manage information on your documents in the language you are using. With the 15 languages newly available for creating Searchable PDF, 26 languages in total are now supported as standard.
• Upgrade for existing ScanSnap Series users
  These additional language supports are available for all customers who already have ScanSnap iX500, iX100, S1100i, S1300i and SV600 at free of charge.

Cloud linkage features are enhanced with advanced software

Nuance’s software “Power PDF Standard”(For Windows®) and ”PDF Converter for Mac” (For Mac OS) are now bundled with “ScanSnap iX500” and “ScanSnap SV600”, enabling the users directly to read/save cloud data. This makes it possible to utilize/share scanned documents such as presentation material or reports more efficiently.

• Both Windows and Mac OS supported
  By using the bundled Windows/Mac version PDF software, users can benefit from cloud linkage and high functional PDF editing regardless of their environment. Its user interface (UI) is designed in accordance with each OS’s guideline which enables users to operate intuitively and easily.
• Work with cloud services more efficiently
  ScanSnap can work directly with cloud services (Read/save data with the PDF editing software), which makes it more effective to utilize and share digitized documents.
  For Windows : Evernote, Dropbox, etc. (over 15 services)
  For Mac OS   : Evernote
  
• Wide varieties of editing functions
  In addition to basic PDF creation/edit functions, the following advanced functions are also available.
  
  1. Embedding movies and sounds, etc.
     Movies and sounds can be embedded in PDF. With this function, users can create effective PDF file which can be utilized as presentation material.
  2. Conversion to various types of data format (For Windows)
     PDF data can be converted into various data formats such as Microsoft® Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint®) and image files, enabling users to further expand their usage of scanned documents.
  3. Automatic OCR language switching
     When OCR is processing documents in multiple languages, this function distinguishes each language and applies optimal OCR processing automatically.
