PFU is set to release its latest range of high-speed A4 image scanners, the fi-7180 and fi-7280. The new models succeed their best-selling counterparts, fi-6140Z, which have received high acclaim in the decentralized capture market[*4].

The new series utilizes easy-to-use and compact design to tailor to the demands in the decentralized market. The compact models feature world’s first sound detecting technology[*5 ] that greatly improves the paper protection function. Together with the high speed scanning, work productivity can be further enhanced. From this scanner series onwards, all fi Series will come with the scanner driver “PaperStream IP” with various advanced technologies and the renewed image capturing software “PaperStream Capture”. With these new software, various documents can be easily and automatically converted to image data, sorted and saved to fit users’ purpose such as OCR (Optical Character Recognition).

PFU is ready to support the document digitizing needs of its customers in the decentralized capture market, introducing new products with reliable and high-speed scanning, easy operation and space-saving design that greatly improve work efficiency.

PRODUCT FEATURES

1. High spec model to answer the needs of decentralized market

The new fi models raise the bar in basic performance and contribute greatly to work efficiency in decentralized market.

  1. Accomplished the fastest scanners in its class
The scanning speed has improved significantly; with the scanning speed of 80ppm/160ipm at color 300dpi, the new series is the fastest in its class. The startup time has also shortened 80% compared to the previous model to boost operation efficiency.
  2. Equipped with large volume hopper (80 sheets) and USB3.0 to facilitate fast scanning
To optimize the high speed scanning of the new scanner series, the loading capacity has enlarged. Furthermore, the new interface fully supports USB3.0 to eliminate the bottleneck in high speed scanning.
  3. User-friendly LCD panel
The high end models come with highly acclaimed LCD panel which upgraded users’ operability. With the LCD panel displaying the name of the batch scanning or error message in multi-languages, the scanner can be operated smoothly and easily.

2. Reliable scanning

The new series has a full lineup of fail-safe mechanism to make high speed scanning possible.

  1. Enhanced paper protection function to reduce the risk of damaged documents
The world’s first technology iSOP (Intelligent Sonic Paper Protection) enhanced paper protection function by stopping the scan when the scanner detects irregular sounds. Besides the past function of monitoring the movement of paper feeding, this series also added functions which monitor the sound to “listen” and “observe” the irregularity in scanning.
  2. “Skew reducer” function for efficient mixed batch scanning
The scanner is equipped with “skew reducer” which greatly improves paper feeding ability. This function reduces the skewness of the documents and thus minimizes the occurrence of missing the edge of the scanned image data. Together with the past deskew function, even mix batch of various sizes and types can be scanned reliably.
  3. Utilizing the centralized management function to boost the efficiency of scanner's maintenance
The centralized management function received high acclaim for mass introduction because it is able to install/update scanner drivers/application or monitor scanners. The new upgraded function has further enhanced the operating status; by monitoring scanners based on the information such as the number of sheets scanned, it can alert for cleaning to minimize troubles and suggest appropriate placement for efficient usage.

3. Renewed scanner driver and image capturing software

The scanner is installed with the new driver “PaperStream IP” which supports TWAIN/ISIS™ to allow users to operate advanced functions easily and new image capturing software “PaperStream Capture”.

  1. PaperStream IP - produce high quality image processing
With the advanced black and white process, various documents can be automatically and easily converted into exceptionally clear image data suitable for OCR (Optical character recognition). High quality image data can be created without pre-setting the scanning settings beforehand.
  2. PaperStream Capture - enhance batch scanning
Whether it is adjusting the scanning settings or performing batch scanning, user can complete the tasks effortlessly with the user-friendly UI. With the seamless linkage with “PaperStream IP”, high quality image processing and batch scanning can be performed at the same time.

New software to be bundled with other models

The fi Series models bundled with the new software, "PaperStrem IP" and "PaperStream Capture", will be shipped accordingly. For details on applicable models and system requirements, please refer to the fi Series product information website.

Standard model with superior cost performance, fi-7160 & fi-7260, to be released at the same time

The fi-7160 (ADF duplex model) and fi-7260 (ADF duplex/flatbed model) will be released at the same time. These superior cost performance models are able to scan color document at 300dpi at 60ppm/120ipm.
