PFU Launches the A4 Duplex Color fi-6140 and fi-6240, the Fastest and Most Compact Scanners in their Class

PFU Limited (President Fujio Wajima, Tokyo Headquarters, Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan) has announced that it launched and began accepting domestic orders for its new Fujitsu brand fi-Series(*1) fi-6140 and fi-6240 scanners on October 22, 2007 (Shipments will commence on November 5, 2007)

fi-6140 (ADF*2 model), fi-6240 (flatbed / ADF model)

PFU Limited is proud to be the first scanner maker to offer products that meet the demands of the decentralized scanning(*3) market. These Fujitsu brand scanners have proven to be a great success and last fiscal year, sales of PFU Limited's A4 color duplex fi-5120C and fi-5220C scanners reached a global best seller level of 150,000 units. Now, the scanner maker has launched the next generation of decentralized scanners-the fi-6140 and fi-6240-which are intended to take over at the top of the fi-Series A4 line-up.
The fi-6140 and the fi-6240, which are designed for swiftly digitizing large volumes of various document types, are the smallest(*4)and fastest A4 scanners in their class. In addition, they are armed with higher end "fi-Series" functions such as a paper protection function and intelligent multifeed function that offer the feeding and high functionality that should be expected from the ultimate A4 scanners.

fi-6140 / fi-6240 Main Features

  1. The fastest and most compact scanners in their class
In addition to being the smallest scanners in their class, the fi-6140 and fi-6240 are able to digitize up to an impressive 60 pages or 120 images per-minute in monochrome (A4, 200dpi) as well as 40 pages or 80 images per minute in color (A4, 200/300dpi). Such superior characteristics are further enhanced by the fact that both the fi-6140 and the fi-6240 are able to efficiently scan 50 page mixed batch documents containing paper of different, weight, quality and sizes. And on top of all of this, both scanners are able to scan 3 card batches of widely used card types where each card has a maximum thickness of up to 1.4mm. The result is that the fi-6140 and the fi-6240 are able to meet any enduser's needs.
  2. The first scanners in their class to adopt high end "fi-Series" functions
The fi-6140 and the fi-6240 are the first business scanners in their class to inherit highly regarded intelligent "fi-Series" automatic features from their higher end siblings. Such features facilitate worry free mixed batch scanning of documents containing paper of different weights, quality and sizes.
    a) Paper protection function
This function puts users at ease with its ability to protect valuable documents by immediately stopping the document feeding process when it recognizes that a jam is about to occur.
    b) Intelligent multifeed function
The intelligent multifeed function simplifies pre-scanning preparation and improves efficiency by ignoring documents that tend to trigger false multifeed(*5) alerts, such as photo and sticky note attached documents.
    c) Speedy "auto-color recognition", "auto-size recognition" and "auto deskew" functionality
The fi-6140 and the fi-6240 are the first scanners in their class to offer such highly valued functions with "dedicated image processing LSI" . As a result, they bring about dramatic digitizing efficiencies through fast scanning and simultaneous high speed image processing.
  3. The first scanners in their class to come bundled with the "automatic job separation" function armed ScandAll PRO Ver1.5 image capture software
As the first scanners in their class to come bundled with barcode and patchcode reading functionality, the fi-6140 and the fi-6240 are capable of scanning and automatically separating different jobs with their automatic job separation function. The result is improved digitization efficiency.
  4. Winner of Japan's prestigious "Good Design" award
The fi-6140 and the fi-6240 have been awarded the prestigious "Fiscal 2007 Good Design Award" (G-mark) by the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization in recognition of their excellent functionality and design.
