Introduction of FUJITSU Image Scanner fi-Series.

PFU Launches the fi-5000N “fi-series” Network Adapter

-- Making sharing high speed business scanners a reality! --

On February 23, 2005, PFU Ltd. (President: Yuji Hirose, Tokyo Head Office: Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture) announced the launching of the fi-5000N, a network adapter, which permits multiple users to share Fujitsu “fi-series⁽¹⁾” scanners in a LAN environment. (First shipments are scheduled to begin on March 1, 2005)

PFU Ltd. is continuing with its mission to develop scanners and other imaging products that are bundled with the latest features and functions. With this objective in mind, it has introduced the fi-5000N, a network adapter, which permits multiple users to share Fujitsu “fi-series” high-speed business scanners in a LAN environment.
In addition to enabling users to share scanners, the fi-5000N is loaded with fingerprint recognition technology that ensures that digitized images are not accidentally sent to the wrong location.

The fi-5000N’s Main Features:

1. Scanner sharing reduces hardware and scanner administration costs:
   Sharing printers in a LAN environment at offices has become common practice. The fi-5000N uses the same general concept to enable many users to share “fi-series⁽²⁾” high-speed scanners in a LAN environment. The result is lower hardware and scanner administration costs.
2. Fingerprint recognition guards against miss-sending scanned images:
   Use of network scanners and network devices that save or transmit digitized data based upon numerical keypad or LCD panel input may result in images being sent to the wrong computer. Unlike other network adapter products, the fi-5000N is loaded with fingerprint recognition technology; meaning that all users have to do to quickly and easily send scanned images to their computer is to touch the fingerprint sensor. Thus, not only does the fi-5000N provide peace of mind against mistransmissions, it boosts efficiency as well.
