Introduction of FUJITSU Image Scanner fi-Series.

fi-5750C comes with the world's first rotating and sliding ADF

-- Fujitsu's fi-5750C A3 Duplex Color Image Scanner Release --

PFU Ltd. (President: Mr. Yuji Hirose, Tokyo Head Office: Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, Capital: 4.98billion yen) will launch fi-5750C, the newest scanner in the Fujitsu image scanner fi series (*1), on January 30th, 2004. This scanner will be available through PFU, Fujitsu and the Fujitsu Group companies. (Orders will be received from January 21st, 2004 onwards).

"fi-5750C" is a color scanner capable of simultaneously scanning duplex A3 documents with its built-in Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) as well as scanning with its built-in flatbed. The ADF slides into two positions, central or on the left and rotates in two directions, making it suitable for left-handed or right-handed users.
fi-5750C improves ADF paper feeding abilities dramatically and enables users to scan mixed batches of documents of varying size and paper thickness. It also performs high resolution scanning quickly at 30 pages per minuet / 60 images per minute when scanning A4 sheets at 600dpi, making it suitable for digital printing.

fi-5750C main features are:

1. World's first rotating and sliding ADF
2. Enables users to scan mixed batches of documents of varying size and paper thickness
3. High speed duplex scanning at 55 pages per minutes /110 images per minutes (when scanning A4 landscape, 200dpi / 300dpi, color)
4. Enables users to scan mixed batches of documents containing paper differing in size and shape such as bills and business forms.
5. Equipped with an ultrasonic multi feed sensor (*2) to detect when multiple sheets are fed at once.

"Adobe® Acrobat® 6.0 Standard Japanese for Windows®" is bundled into every Fujitsu fi-series scanner, including fi-5750C. Adobe® Acrobat® 6.0 includes new features which permit easy scanning and document management while enabling business users to share electronic documents quickly, securely with peace of mind. All scanners ordered from January 21st onward will be bundled with Adobe® Acrobat® 6.0.

PFU promotes the digitization of paper documents into PDF files. Through encouraging the creation of an environment where these documents can be processed and edited as electronic documents, which are shared over networks, we intend to promote cost reduction in document management and storage.

[Overview of the new product]

1. World's first rotating and sliding ADF
   The ADF can swivel 180 degrees, which enables both right-handed and left-hand users to feed documents smoothly. ADF slides into two positions, center or left. With its ergonomic design, it can be installed at any location.
2. Improved mixed paper feeding ability
   fi-5750C, which is equipped with an ADF and flat bed, improves paper-feeding ability, especially when its ADF is used. fi-5750C enables users to scan mixed batches of documents containing a wide variety of paper sizes and thickness.
3. High speed duplex scanning
   High speed duplex scanning of 55 pages per minute /110 image per minute at A4, 200dpi / 300dpi, color is achieved. Its scanning speed is three times faster than that of its predecessors. fi-5750C offers high speed and high resolution scanning at 30 pages per minute / 60 images per minute at A4, 600 dpi.
4. Ultrasonic multi feed sensor
   fi-5750C is equipped with an ultrasonic multi feed sensor to detect when two or more sheets are fed simultaneously. This function operates effectively, even when the sheets to be scanned differ in thickness, size, color, and density.
5. Automatic background switch mechanism (B & W)
   PFU's automatic background switch mechanism permits the use of "Auto cropping" (ensuring the scanned area will appear on the screen) and "Automatic de-skew" (ensuring that skewed documents are straightened).
   Since this scanner is equipped with a selectable background mechanism (B & W), fi-5750C can automatically select the suitable background for the type of document being scanned and for how this document will be used.
