Fujitsu Spotlights New Smartphone at MWC 2012

Debut of high-spec quad-core smartphone sample model

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, February 22, 2012

Fujitsu today announced that it will showcase sample units and demonstrate its new ultra-high-spec smartphone at Fujitsu's booth (Courtyard CY15) at Mobile World Congress 2012, to be held from February 27 to March 1, 2012 in Barcelona, Spain. The new smartphone—which boasts a quad-core CPU and features long battery life and high-bandwidth to download videos and games—was designed in response to the spread of LTE, WiMAX, and other high-speed communications networks. This model's development is intended to address the increasingly heavy data loads that mobile devices are required to handle so that users can fully enjoy content and speeds comparable to that of video game consoles.

Information and communications technologies (ICT) of the future will put humans at the center of all activities, in which Fujitsu is confident that mobile devices will play an essential role. In line with this vision, Fujitsu has focused its development efforts on producing the world's easiest-to-use smartphones. Based on Fujitsu's "Human-Centric Technology" concept, the company aims to position smartphones as a close-at-hand tool that supports people's everyday activities. By leveraging a broad range of proprietary cutting-edge technologies, from semiconductors to supercomputers, Fujitsu looks to bring to fruition its vision of Human-Centric Technology.

As demonstrated by the Raku-Raku (easy-to-use) mobile phone series, which recently broke past a milestone of 20 million units sold in Japan, Fujitsu has focused on developing a portfolio of unique universal design technologies that make smartphones easier to view, easier to hear, and easier to use when speaking. The company has also brought to bear its industry-leading water-resistant capabilities. The lateral application of these technologies has served to greatly differentiate Fujitsu's products from those of competitors, and Fujitsu's smartphones have been received with great acclaim.

As a result of the spread of LTE, WiMAX and other high-speed communications networks, along with the accompanying increase in data-heavy content, Fujitsu keenly understands the customer demands for products that feature both fast processing performance and long battery life. To meet these needs, Fujitsu has developed a Tegra 3-based smartphone with world-class speed and long battery life.
