Water-resistant mobile phone featuring sparkling illumination

Fujitsu Limited,Fujitsu Toshiba Mobile Communications Limited

Tokyo, June 15, 2011

Fujitsu today announced that the new T008 mobile phone from Fujitsu Toshiba Mobile Communications will be available beginning June 17, 2011, from KDDI Corporation and Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company in Japan.

The T008 is a water-resistant mobile phone with illuminations designed in the image of champagne bubbles that sparkle when receiving incoming calls or e-mails. It features a built-in "connection menu" consisting of four convenient functions for making communication fun. The T008 is also equipped with a high-speed 1GHz Snapdragon™ CPU, and has easy-to-use buttons to make sending e-mail messages simple.

Background

Amid an increasingly diverse landscape of mobile phone user needs, the younger generation of users place emphasis on the mobile phone's design elements, such as sparkling illuminations, as well as its fun e-mail communication and camera features, when selecting a mobile phone.

With the T008, users can choose from over 50 different patterns of illuminations that sparkle when receiving incoming calls or e-mails. In addition, the phone features an LED sub-display screen for displaying the time and the name of the person calling. For names that the user wants kept confidential, the user can choose a setting so that an icon is displayed instead of the name. The built-in "connection menu" has a number of functions for making communication even more fun. This includes functions enabling users to mark messages as "to be read later" for when users are busy and want to carefully read a message afterwards and respond; a "write mail now" function that takes the user directly to the mail composition screen; and others such as birthday reminders.

The T008 has an 8.08 megapixel camera as its main camera, and also has a blog upload function for quickly posting photos taken. It is also equipped with a high-speed 1GHz Snapdragon™ CPU, enabling smooth operation of the e-mail and camera functions.

With its sparkling illuminations, the T008 is a water-resistant mobile phone that makes communication even more enjoyable. The mobile phone is available in three color variations: Rose Pink, Frozen Blue, and Cocktail Black.

Product Features of the T008

1. Sparkling illuminations

Over 50 different options for illuminations
In addition to five different patterns that are available in ten different colors, the phone is equipped with special illuminations for special events such as Christmas and birthdays.

Displays time and name of incoming callers
The sub-display screen displays the time and, when there is an incoming call, the name of the person calling. For names that the user wants kept confidential, the user can choose from among ten different icons that can be displayed in lieu of the name.

2. "Connection menu" makes communication even more fun

Frequent caller ranking
Callers are ranked based on the frequency of e-mail messages and phone calls exchanged. Rankings can also be displayed for each category of communication (e-mails sent, calls made, etc.), enabling users to keep track of whom they communicate with the most.

Birthday reminder
For birthdays listed in the phone's address book, users are notified on the day of the birthday through the mobile phone's standby screen. From there, users can quickly compose a birthday e-mail greeting to their friends.

3. Full range of camera and e-mail functions

8.08 megapixel camera
With a diversity of photography features, such as smile finder and face-angle detector, users can take beautiful photos with the camera function.

Collaboration with the popular Mameshiba cartoon characters
In a new feature, the popular Mameshiba cartoon characters can appear in standby mode or used in decorative e-mail messages. Amid a user's busy daily schedule, the Mameshiba characters provide a heart-warming moment of relief.

4,010 types of preset emoticons make e-mail messages more fun
With 4,010 preset emoticons (1) , the largest number available in an au mobile phone, users can be even more expressive in their e-mail messages. When words alone are insufficient to express one's emotions, users can convey their feelings in their own unique way.

Self menu
Simply by pressing the self menu key, users can display their own original menu screen, where users are free to register the functions they use most.

Customize key
From 17 different types of functions, users can register the ones they often use so that, just by pressing one button, they are conveniently able to launch desired functions.

Catchable
Simply by opening the handset a little bit, a vibration will alert users if there are any phone messages or new e-mail messages received.

Mobile REGZA Engine 2.0
Mobile REGZA Engine 2.0 includes a variety of features, such as auto-image adjustment, which adjusts the light of the mobile phone's backlight in response to the brightness of the surrounding environment and performs optimal image processing in real-time. In addition, it is equipped with noise reduction, which reduces discordant sound, an issue common to one-segment video, thereby enabling users to enjoy clear video broadcasts.
