- New storage models provide flexibility and facilitate additional service levels for business-critical applications -

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, October 08, 2009

Starting today, Fujitsu offers enterprises greater flexibility in selecting the most suitable connectivity of entry-level disk storage systems to server hosts. ETERNUS DX60/DX80 systems are now available in a choice of three base models - Fibre Channel, iSCSI, or SAS. In addition, enterprise-class Solid State Drives (SSD) will allow ETERNUS DX80 to serve service levels for business-critical applications, which require the highest IOs per second. These enhancements will offer customers new ways to interface and lower their operational costs.

ETERNUS DX60 and ETERNUS DX80 are a new generation of disk storage systems with enterprise-class reliability. Especially designed for small- and medium-sized businesses, the ETERNUS DX60/DX80 systems offer highly sophisticated reliability, are easy to manage and configure, and provide an affordable entry into network storage.

Moreover, they include lower-cost Nearline SAS drives instead of the more expensive SAS drives. The ETERNUS DX60/DX80 systems are scalable so that companies do not need to buy a new system when their business grows, because customers can easily scale up the existing systems. In addition, the ETERNUS DX60/DX80 includes high-end features for free, such as RAID migration, Data Block Guard, Redundant Copy, Disk Encryption and more.

All ETERNUS DX60/DX80 systems offer high availability, reliability and speed at an affordable price point. Additionally, they are already known for lower operational costs, easier configuration and energy efficiency. A high-performance Fibre Channel model of the ETERNUS DX80 offers 8 Gigabit-per-second connection speeds to server hosts. All models feature new functions that ensure greater availability and significantly faster recovery, as well as rapid backups with eight snapshots included, extendable to 512 and 1024. ETERNUS DX60/DX80 systems are easy to install and manage, with a graphic user interface and installation wizard that makes it easy to use and install. Easy-to-activate encryption prevents unauthorized access to confidential data. The Eco-mode function, based on MAID (Massive Array of Idle Disks) technology allows administrators to spin down disk drives that are currently not needed to save up to 10% in energy consumption. With ETERNUS DX60/DX80 features like SSD and Eco-mode, Fujitsu provides the infrastructure for green datacenters.
