Fujitsu Becomes First Japanese Contributor Member of The Green Grid Consortium

-Enhances global initiatives to develop Green IT-

Fujitsu Limited

Tokyo, March 24, 2008

Fujitsu Limited announced today that it has become a Contributor Member of The Green Grid, the first Japanese company to take a leadership role in the global consortium dedicated to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems.

The membership will help to promote Fujitsu's initiatives to improve the energy efficiency of its data centers and its server and storage products, and support the company's overall environmental goal of preventing global warming through the reduction of IT-generated carbon dioxide emissions.

The membership is part of the overarching Green Policy Innovation initiative Fujitsu announced in December 2007, aimed at achieving a 7-million-ton reduction in CO2 emissions by 2010.

About The Green Grid Consortium

The Green Grid is a global consortium established in February 2007 to advance energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems. The consortium's stated mission is to define meaningful, user-centric models and metrics; develop standards, measurement methods, processes and new technologies to improve performance against the defined metrics; and to promote the adoption of energy-efficient standards, processes, measurements, and technologies.

The Green Grid is comprised of Board Members, Contributor Members and General Members. The 11 Board Members comprise a final decision-making body, overseeing the consortium's management, planning, and technical activities. There are 36 Contributor Member companies, which take part in working groups, maintain voting rights, and participate in the drafting of technical proposals and specifications. In addition, there are more than 150 General Member companies which take part in general meetings, review technical documentation, and license intellectual property owned by the consortium, among other privileges.

About Fujitsu's Environmental Protection Initiatives

Further strengthening its initiatives to promote Green IT, Fujitsu unveiled in December 2007 its Green Policy Innovation initiative, which aims to achieve a cumulative reduction of more than 7 million tons of CO2 from fiscal 2007 through fiscal 2010. At the same time, the company announced its Green Infrastructure Solution designed to improve the energy efficiency of its customers' IT facilities, from facility design through operations. The new solution was based on Fujitsu's own track record of energy-efficient design and operation of 80 data centers worldwide—50 in Japan and 30 others in 15 countries outside Japan. Fujitsu aims to optimize its customers' entire IT operations through compact, light, power-saving blade servers, a range of other power-efficient server and storage products, software aimed at improving energy efficiency, and through the design of air conditioning and facilities that house IT equipment.

In the future, Fujitsu plans closer coordination between its Green Policy Innovation initiative and its activities for The Green Grid. In addition, the company will leverage its energy-efficiency know-how and methods, along with its vast technological resources, to support the creation of new efficiency standards for the industry.
