Medi-IT and Fujitsu Finland deliver online service platform for hospital districts

Helsinki, 28 May, 2013 Medi-IT and Fujitsu Finland Oy have delivered a shared online service platform for four hospital districts, allowing them to view their appointments, fill out preliminary information forms and communicate securely with the healthcare personnel.

The online service platform hosts a portal (Hyvis) which offers user interfaces to a publications portal (, citizen’s online service portal (, and the healthcare professional’s desktop. User authentication takes place using the Vetuma service. All in all the service covers more than 420,000 citizens and 10,000 healthcare professionals.

The buyer of the online service platform is Medi-IT with Fujitsu as the lead supplier. The technical solution of the Hyvis platform is built on the Sharepoint 2010 technology by Microsoft. Fujitsu has partnered up in this project with Medixine, who is responsible for secure communication.

”Offering a diverse implementation environment and integration capabilities for future online services, the platform solution meets the needs of the provinces in terms of developing electronic services,” says manager Riitta Jaatinen of Medi-IT project services.

”The Hyvis project promotes and advances national uniformity. In a small country like Finland, collaboration is the only way to achieving cost-savings and increasing productivity. Online services offer citizens reliable access to information, enable them to communicate with healthcare professionals and allow them to fill their preliminary information from home, while facilitating the work and routines of healthcare professionals. I believe that citizens and our clients will soon grow accustomed to utilising the online services,” Jaatinen continues.

”With this project, online services in the Finnish healthcare system take a huge leap forward. Several big cities are thinking about and deploying electronic solutions, and also our government is actively promoting them,” says Pirjo Nissinen-Kiviranta, head of healthcare sector sales for Fujitsu.
