27Lesson 2Grammar notes4） Negative form of adjectives① The negative form of an i-adjective is stem + く　ないです ku-naidesu.あたらしいatarashii（plain affirmative form）↓あたらしatarashi- （＊stem）↓あたらしくないatarashi-ku-nai（plain negative form）＊ The stem is the main part of a word to which various endings may be added. The stem of an i-adjective is formed by deleting the final 'i.'↓あたらしくないですatarashikunai desu （polite negative form）② The negative form of a na-adjective is the same as the negative form of a noun： stem + では　ありません dewa arimasen.かんたんkantan（stem）↓かんたんですkantan desu（polite affirmative）↓かんたんではありませんkantan dewa arimasen（polite negative）
