Fujitsu today announces an extension of its IT outsourcing agreement with government agency Sida (Swedish International Development Corporation Agency)Open a new window¹. The company is now mandated to continue supporting Sida’s digital transformation through to 2020, focusing on upgrading IT equipment and moving infrastructure to the cloud.

Fujitsu has supplied comprehensive IT support services to Sida since 2013, providing everything from workplace managed services and data centers to service desk and hardware products, including computers and printers. This has helped the agency streamline and optimize the IT infrastructure at its domestic offices in Stockholm, Visby and Härnösand, as well as a remote office in Burkina Faso, Central Africa.

Authorities in Sweden, as well as private and public sector organizations across the globe, face the major challenge of upgrading and future-proofing systems and administration. Older IT systems are struggling to meet the fresh demands of digital transformation and must be renewed, in order to remove any roadblocks on the journey to a digital future. To support Sida in this process, Fujitsu has already started upgrading client computing systems and video equipment and migrating parts of Sida’s back end IT infrastructure to the cloud.

Jenni Wigholm, IT Manager at Sida, says: “Innovation, proactivity and continuous efficiency is crucial for our IT delivery. We are pleased to work with Fujitsu as our digital transformation partner and look forward to continuing our cooperation.”

Mia Bartelson Enayatollah, Head of Public Sector at Fujitsu Sweden, comments: “International development is an important part of society and we are proud that Sida has demonstrated its continued confidence in Fujitsu as a technology partner. We believe that Fujitsu was awarded the mandate to extend its IT outsourcing on the basis of our joint focus on delivering the right technologies to support Sida’s mission of reducing world poverty through distributing humanitarian aid to people in need of assistance.”
