Fujitsu Demonstrates Ultra High-Speed Short-Reach Data Transmission Based on Multi-level Signalling and Advanced ADC/DAC Technology

list_fseu

Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe (FSEU) has demonstrated the transmission of >100Gbps over a single CEI-28G-VSR channel, effectively quadrupling the data rate throughput defined by the Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) for this chip-to-chip electrical interface. This serves as a benchmark for what can be achieved over short-reach electrical channels using the same field-proven CMOS converter technology deployed in long-haul optical transport systems today. Key to the study is a comparison of the relative advantages and disadvantages of PAM (Pulse-amplitude Modulation) encoding versus DMT (Discrete Multi-Tone) over this particular channel. FSEU’s test and demonstration platform is based on the test chips and evaluation boards for the family of 40nm, 65GSps CMOS converters (“LEIA” DAC for transmit and “LUKE” ADC for receive). list_netsupport

Fujitsu Limited, Fujitsu Laboratories Limited and Fujitsu Research and Development Center Co., Ltd. of China today announced the development of a digital signal processing algorithm to compensate for waveform distortion in long-haul transmission systems of over several hundreds of kilometers. This, in turn, enables a roughly twenty-fold improvement in the compensation ability per circuit size compared to typical existing technology, representing a considerable improvement of approximately three times compared to circuits previously developed by Fujitsu. As a result, the new technology has succeeded in extending the long-haul operating range of optical signals. By reducing the energy consumption of compensation circuits by two-thirds, the new technology also helps cut energy consumption throughout an entire network. More Detail

Phase control technology of optical DQPSK receiver

list_dqpsk

For 40Gbit/s and higher optical communication system, the differential quadrature phase shift keying (DQPSK) becomes the preferential modulation method recently due to its high-spectrum efficiency and higher dispersive tolerance, but this modulation method should control the phase error of the receiver to be within 10. Compared to the differential binary phase shift keying (DBPSK), its control accuracy is increased by 5 times. We propose a new phase control method without dither to successfully realize the above target. This method overcomes the main implement obstacle of DQPSK technology and applies the DQPSK modulation format from the lab into the actual products. More Detail

Synchronization technology for OFDM system

list_ofdm

As a wireless transmission technology with high-spectrum efficiency, OFDM is extensively applied in the next-generation broadband wireless communication systems. The Communication Technology Research Department conducts deep and detailed research on some key steps in OFDM technology. For example, when the terminal synchronizes time and frequency with base station in high-speed movement, the synchronization time will increase due to Doppler frequency offset caused by high-speed movement, interference from adjacent base stations and channel fading effects. As a differential technology and innovation with other companies, we propose an advanced high-performance and fast synchronization scheme which is adopted in the next-generation wireless communication products. Research on MIMO technology

list_mimo

ITU-R has collected IMT-Advanced technology proposes from countries and standardization organizations. The Communication Technology Research Department is actively participating in this work. Among those technical candidates, the advanced MIMO (multi-input and multi-output) of the new-generation radio communication is our research focus, especially the important branch of codebook based multi-user MIMO technology . The issue is to compute the appropriate channel quality indicator (CQI) and corresponding precoding vector index (PVI) of each user. Without the channel matrix of other terminals, the system cannot effectively control inter-user coherent when deciding the best pre-coded vector and CQI. We propose a new precoding scheme and can reduce the inter-user interference in multi-user MIMO system. More Detail

Introduction to 2D diagram plane/3D-CAD model retrieval system

list_cad

To rapidly develop and present competitive products to the market in the manufacturing area, it is necessary to effectively utilize the cumulative technical materials such as design scheme of the existing products. For this purpose, the engineering drawings should be effectively managed and retrieved so as to quickly find the required information from a large number of existing design schemes. We develop the content-based 2D-CAD drawing/3D-CAD model retrieval system, which enables both traditional text-based management (such as file name of designs, designer and department information) and content based retrieval. With this system, a user can directly find the required design scheme by the shape of the products or components, thus the efficiency is improved and the design cost is reduced. This technology has been successfully applied in some Japanese companies. More Detail

A New Generation of High-definition Multi-standard Video Decoder supporting AVS standard

list_hd

The 2nd generation video coding standard with H.264/AVC as representative is the currently popular video coding standard. AVS is 2nd generation video coding standard with independent China intellectual property. The Microsoft VC-1 and MPEG-2 are extensively applied. If a decoder is developed for each standard, to support 4 standards, the device requires 4 decoders, so it increases the device cost much. We developed a full high-definition decoder which can simultaneously support 4 standards and features high integration and low power consumption. Among them, the feature of supporting full HD AVS video decoding is particularly noteworthy, because, at present, most of the other HD chips only support SD AVS decoder. More Detail

Fast image defogging technology

list_defogging

All types of cameras, such as digital cameras, surveillance cameras, and car-mounted cameras, have been applied in many aspects of life, with the advances in technology and improvement of living. However, bad weather (fog, haze, dust, rain, and snow, etc.) will reduce the performance of outdoor cameras, and make them hard to keep stable visibility. For surveillance cameras and car cameras, the images will be blurred under the situations of heavy fog, dust, and air pollution. People cannot identify clearly moving cars, pedestrian, and car plate number. To solve such problems, we have developed a fast high performance defogging technology. It calculates respectively the approximate fog density in single pixel and local area, with single input image. Then by combining them together, it will estimate precise fog density for each pixel, and restore the defogged image. After defogging, the brightness can also be improved adaptively. By software implementation on PC, we can achieve the run speed of 720x480@30fps. This technology is suitable for outdoor surveillance and navigation assistance. More Detail
