Fujitsu Semiconductor and Wuhan P&S Jointly Initiated FRAM Free Sample Program

Continually working on getting more Chinese customers and electronic engineers to experience the high performance of FRAM and improve its product awareness in China.

Fujitsu Semiconductor (Shanghai) Company Limited

Shanghai, November 18, 2013

Together with Wuhan P&S Information Technology Co., Ltd. (P&S), Fujitsu Semiconductor (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. has started to offer free samples of Fujitsu ferroelectric memory (FRAM). Targeting at the electronic engineers, this program aims at helping more people get to know the FRAM products of Fujitsu Semiconductor. Engineers can request for free FRAM samples to experience its high performance at: http://www.icbase.com/NewsPage.aspx?NewsId=96

From 1999 up to June 2013, Fujitsu had already delivered more than 2.3 billion FRAM products. Its advantages of non-volatility, high-speed programming, high writing endurance up to 1,000 billion times, random access memory and low power consumption have set it apart from the competition. For Fujitsu Semiconductor, FRAM has been one of its key products, especially for the Chinese market. Fujitsu Semiconductor has been consistently holding to the concept of "Fujitsu FRAM is born for your system innovation", to help customers save system costs and reduce development costs, and has already achieved quite positive results so far.

As of May 2013, 17 Fujitsu Semiconductor’s FRAM monomeric memory products have been put into mass production, with its capacity ranging from 4Kb to 4Mb. The company has also started to develop 8Mb products to realize large capacity gradually. Meanwhile, it has been constantly striving to reduce power consumption and price. The specific products can be classified into three categories in terms of its Interface Type: serial I2C interface, serial SPI, and parallel interface products. FRAM with the serial interface can replace EEPROM or serial flash, while FRAM with parallel interface can replace SRAM + cell solution. Its main target markets include industrial control, medical, instrumentation / equipment, automotive electronics, entertainment products, new energy, and factory automation etc.

"By initiating this program with the local distributors such as P&S, we not only wish to allow more Chinese engineers to use our products. What’s more, we hope to get more valuable information from the engineers to improve our products, so as to be closer to the market positioning", said Mr. Chikara Onodera, Vice President of Sales and Marketing Department of Fujitsu Semiconductor Asia. "We hope to offer more cooperation program like this in the future, and engineers are welcome to participate and give their valuable advice."

“We are greatly honored to cooperate with Fujitsu Semiconductor and looking forward to more feedbacks from the engineers”, stated Mr. Hu Rong, Deputy General Manager of Marketing Department of P&S, “The excellence of Fujitsu Semiconductor’s FRAM products is evident, and we believe this event will promote them to a wider user group in China.”

In the future, Fujitsu Semiconductor will consider adding more peripheral function circuit units to its monomeric FRAM products, such as RTC and watchdog, to meet the needs of some industrial applications. Meanwhile, it has added more unique features to the FRAM products to bring more value to customers, thus eliminating unnecessary costs for external components, and can further improve the system reliability. The company will also keep in close contact with the customers, distributors and engineers to understand their needs and track down the market, making its due contribution for FRAM’s development in the Chinese market.

The general models of Fujitsu Semiconductor FRAM that can be requested for free include:

I²C serial interface FRAM:
MB85RC16PNF-G-JNERE1 (16 bit)
MB85RC64PNF-G-JNERE1 (64k bit)
MB85RC256VPF-G-JNERE2 (256k bit)

SPI serial interface FRAM:
MB85RS16PNF-G-JNERE1 (16k bit)
MB85RS64PNF-G-JNERE1(64k bit)
