Fujitsu Develops SaaS for Internet Opinion Analysis

Automatic Internet water army detection, real time hot topics discovery, SaaS to Chinese customers

Fujitsu Research and Development Center Co., Ltd.

Beijing, December 31, 2013

Fujitsu R&D Center Co., Ltd. today announced the development of SaaS (Software as a Service) for Internet opinion analysis. Fujitsu plans to provide this service with local partners to Chinese small and middle-sized enterprises for the monitoring and management of the related opinions posted in the Internet.

The Internet opinion analysis solution, CGM (Consumer Generated Media) developed by Fujitsu is very welcomed by large scale enterprises. It enables the customers to understand the negative opinions and infringement to corporate brand timely and accurately and helps them for crisis management. The new developed SaaS focuses on price sensitive small and middle-sized enterprises and the 3rd party partners that provide content service based on our technology with better cost performance and flexibility.

By the end of June, 2013, the number of Internet users in China reaches 591 millions. The number of SNS (Social Network Services) users exceeds 400 millions. More and more users post their opinions on the Internet to discuss new products and hot topics. This information are very valuable to the enterprises. There are large requirements of Internet opinion analysis to accurately monitor and manage the Internet comments towards corporate products.

Technology issues

1. Internet water army detection

Internet water army is a group of Internet ghostwriters paid to post online comments with particular content in order to change public opinion. Our system made a knowledge base based on post motivation analysis and spread pattern analysis. The knowledge base is integrated with SNS behavior and content feature to build a machine learning model to distinguish Internet water army posts from normal posts.

2. Real time hot topics discovery

The purpose of real time hot topics discovery is to detect the current hot news in the Internet to help the enterprises to find the potential crisis timely. In order to speed up the hot topics detection, we summarized a post by key word extraction. Meanwhile, the feature dimension for a post is reduced from several thousands to a few of tens. Thus, the speed of similarity calculation is highly improved to 250,000 posts/minutes to satisfy the SaaS requirements. The accuracy of the hot topics discovery reaches over 80%.

Future Development

Fujitsu R&D Center Co., Ltd . will provide the service with our local partners and improve our service quality and technology based on the customers’ feedbacks.
