Fujitsu Semiconductor (Shanghai) Company Limited

Shanghai, November 15, 2011

As a leader in the semiconductor technology, Fujitsu Semiconductor (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. has been committed to working with universities to build up an education model which combines education, research and production. Fujitsu constantly adjusts the cooperation strategy and mode in order to keep up with the industry development and meet the demands of consumers and the internet of things, so as to drive the industry forward. After the establishment of a joint laboratory with Shandong University, in July this year, Fujitsu once again built up another joint Laboratory of internet of things with Jiangsu University to promote the development of the industry in the Yangtze Delta area.

Yangtze Delta region is China’s cradle of internet of things, and it has a leading position in the development of the industry. With a strong industrial base, the region has developed into one of the mainstays for the internet of things. In the future, the industry will further speed up as the resources of internet of things come to focus on this region.

Universities and enterprises are playing a very important role in boosting the development of internet of things. Aimed at the Yangtze Delta region, the mainstay of internet of things, Fujitsu and Jiangsu University set up a joint laboratory and provide laboratory equipments and software relating to internet of things, such as, MB95200/300 microcontroller series for consumer electronics, and 16-bit development software/MB9B506 series processor (Cortex-M3 core) Development Kit for automotive electronics, car dashboard, body control, car infotainment and other CAN related applications. University students will benefit a lot in their studies and innovations with the help of those devices and software.

Jiangsu University is one of the first universities which established the engineering dept of internet of things and approved by the Ministry of Education. Jiangsu University is also the first to engage into the area of "RFID Applications", "sensor network security" supported by the national research project fund. Jiangsu University is well known for its sensor network viable technology, and its application in production. The "wireless sensor viable network technology and wireless vibration measurement product" developed by Jiangsu University won the “Technology Progress Award”; the north indoor heating "temperature – Fire control” based on internet of things has come into production; the research of greenhouse agriculture and vehicle control based on internet of things are also underway.

At the opening ceremony, Tian lixin, Vice President of Jiangsu University, and Mr.Fujisaku, Vice president of Fujitsu Semiconductor, extended their best wishes respectively. Mr. Wang Jue, Asia Pacific Marketing Director of Fujitsu Semiconductor delivered a speech, entitled "Fujitsu semiconductor, opportunities and challenges". Students and Fujitsu professionals exchange ideas on Fujitsu’s auto electronic technologies.

Mr. Wang Jue said: “Jiangsu University is one of the hundred top universities in China, and has a leading position in the area of internet of things. Fujitsu is very pleased to work with Jiangsu University in the areas of internet of things, in the education of multi-disciplinary, innovative professionals, and promote the development of internet of things in the Yangtze River Delta region”.

Mr.Tian, Vice President of Jiangsu University, said: "The joint laboratory shows the beginning of our cooperation, and the beginning of our in-depth understanding. There are not only a number of devices in the Joint Laboratory, but also enthusiasm and confidence. We will work together to develop the internet of things, and make full use of Fujitsu products and equipments to cultivate high-level graduates in the area of internet of things." After that, Mr. Zhan Yongzhao, president of computer science and communication engineering dept of Jiangsu University, made a detailed introduction of the education program of internet of things. He stressed that Jiangsu University attaches a great importance to the education of internet of things, and is one of the first numbers joined the “Teaching and Steering Committee of the internet of things”, the introduction to internet of things was the first version of its kind published by Jiangsu University, and Jiangsu University set up a reform program of " undergraduate teaching project" to combine engineering, computing and internet of things, in order to develop multi-disciplinary, innovative professionals.

After the opening ceremony, the two sides visited the joint laboratory together, and set to extend their cooperation based on the laboratory.
