Fujitsu MCU design competition, named , Innovative Future of Mainland, HK and Taiwan has finished its first stage, 200 teams from mainland and 40 teams from HK and Taiwan have come out and will compete in the finals. College students and electronic fans from the three places showed a great enthusiasm in the participation.

The fourth Fujitsu MCU design competition for college students was launched since November 2010, and it attracted a great attention from the semiconductor industry, the education, and the media (mainland China, Taiwan and HK). The number of participants hit a new high: over 1,300 contestants from mainland China, and more than 110 groups from Taiwan and Hong Kong, with well over 500 academic papers. The finalists include mainland’s prestigious universities such as Xi'an Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology, while Taiwan's Cheng Kung University, Jiaotong University, Central University, Taiwan University of Technology and Chinese University of Hong Kong also successfully entered the finals. Apart from the university teachers and students, a number of electronic fans also entered into the finals to share the joy and honour of the competition.

The contest entries are closely linked with the subject of the competition that is Consumer Electronics. The designs are based on innovation, marketing and commercialization which cover the areas of daily necessities, fire/burglar alarms, and natural disaster warning systems. The environmental protection and internet of things also played a big role in the exhibition. The smart refrigerator iStore design presented by Tianjin University, the portable multimedia terminals based on Internet of Things from Huazhong University of Science and Technology unveiled every possibilities of the future internet of things. Automotive electronics, intelligent lighting control, home heating and other energy-saving technologies were also on the show.

Andy Chang, vice president of marketing dept of Fujitsu Asia Pacific, said: "After four years of development, as a key part of Fujitsu’s University plan, Fujitsu MCU Design Contest has become a creative platform for college students and electronic fans. Based on the 32bit-FM3Family MB9BF506 tools, provided by Fujitsu, the contestants displayed their creative thinking and initiative, this is also the purpose of our competition, We are also very much looking forward to seeing today's creative designs can become a part of tomorrow’s life. "

In order to help the finalists better understand the platform and the tools, Fujitsu will send its competition tools - FSS-9B506-EVB or FSSDC-9B506-EK –E --to the finalists, and put up download information of the training program on the website, so as to give the contestants an easy access to the development kits. In addition, Fujitsu Competition Organizing Committee will promote the competition in different ways, in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan : In July 1, a seminar will be held in Taiwan and provide on-site training for the contestants ;In July 10, an on-line video seminar will be held jointly with ECCN, and answer questions. It is estimated in the mid-August, all the works submitted by contestants will be evaluated and graded and the award winners will be selected ---First Award, Second Award, Third Award, Best Award, Best Instructor Award and Best School Organization Award. In addition, there are also Special Awards for the winners from the three places---Best Creation Award, Best Design Award, Best Environmental Awareness Award and Best Commercialization Awards.

The Final Award Ceremony will be held in Beijing in October this year.
