Fujitsu and Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics Join Hands to Set up MCU Lab to explore SRTP

Fujitsu Microelectronics (Shanghai) Company Limited

Shanghai, October 10, 2008

Fujitsu Micro-electronics (Shanghai) announced today, the company will join hands with Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics to set up a MCU Lab, to explore SRTP (Student Research Training Program) together. Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics has a prominent position in the area of aeronautic and astronautic engineering. This is another important step of Fujitsu Micro-electronic’ s “ University Project”, and is the third joint Lab after the Labs in Shanxi University of Science and Technology and Southwest Jiaotong University.

Fujitsu Micro-electronics has been committing itself to the development of education in China, and has been continuously a support in China’s education. MCU Lab provides a platform for university students to take practices and innovations, as well as a good opportunity for the students to do their research and training works. Based on the joint Labs, the two sides will further cooperate and seeking the possibility of co-education.

Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics joint Lab will be equipped with Fujitsu’s updated 8-bit microcontroller, MB95200 series of the F2MC-8FX family. It offers chips and development tools at a low cost which feature “easy to use” and “easy to develop”. The whole product and software system provide the students with innovative platform which inspires the innovation and practice ability of the students and gives them in-depth knowledge of the industry.

Fujitsu’s Micro-electronics senior vice president of Asian pacific, Kuang Guohua said: “Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics is an interdisciplinary, open and research university with the feature in the aeronautics and astronautics and advantage in engineering. The electronic engineering institute of this university has been the national IC base since 2005. It is a prestigious university in the course book of SCM and has good records in many student competitions. We hope to transmit the updated technique, products and theory of semiconductor industry to the students through this co-operation, and Fujitsu will provide hardware and software support. Students can make full use of our products and development tools in their innovation and practice and then push the future development of SRTP in China. We also expect that through this joint Lab, we are able to co-educate the students in the area of MCU, and direct and educate them with the advanced knowledge.

The vice president of electronic engineering institute of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Zhang Youguang, said, “It’s our honor to set up this joint Lab with the leading company, Fujitsu. I believe, this kind of Lab will not only enhance the student’s ability in their innovation and practice, and give them a better understanding in their specialty but also will help the development of SRTP in China. Fujitsu Micro-electronics actually assist us in cultivating the talent and supporting the education which is a great feedback to China’s semiconductor industry.
