Fujitsu Opens Expanded Services Facility to Accommodate Strong Local Growth

Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc.

Barataria, Trinidad, September 09, 2009

Fujitsu Caribbean (Trinidad) Limited today announced the expansion of its global data centre capabilities with the opening of a new facility in Barataria. The facility, which represents a multi-million dollar investment by Fujitsu in the Caribbean market, comes in response to high local demand for hosted and managed IT infrastructure services.

“We have made a significant investment in this new data centre facility to ensure our regional customers have cost-effective and reliable access to premium infrastructure and managed service solutions,” said Mervyn Eyre, President/CEO, Fujitsu Caribbean. “The capital investment required to establish and maintain facilities such as this is beyond the scope of most businesses. The opening of this facility in Barataria, gives local customers access to world-class infrastructure and state-of-the-art security and business continuity, without the associated costs”, he added.

The purpose-built 2500 sq. ft./232 square meter facility combines a high level of redundancy and fail-over capability with the capacity to cater for rapid growth in demand. It complements Fujitsu’s existing Remote Infrastructure Management (RIM) services which manages customer infrastructure up to the desktop and its Network Operating Centre (NOC) services which provide network and security management services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for customers in Trinidad and Tobago, and throughout the English-speaking Caribbean. Together with a full range of professional services, Fujitsu delivers an end-to-end IT Managed and Outsourced Service to its customers.

Frances Correia, EVP, Government Business, Fujitsu Caribbean said, “Fujitsu has a long and impressive track record in managing mission critical systems and applications for the region’s governments and leading private sector institutions. Our proven strength and experience in IT infrastructure management and service delivery allow us to provide a comprehensive business solution that meets customers’ entire hosting and managed services requirements."

Ms. Correia concluded, “The potential for growth in the Caribbean, which has been bolstered by the Trinidad and Tobago Government’s Fast Forward Strategy and our support of their communications backbone infrastructure, were contributing factors in our decision to extend our data centre capabilities in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago”.

Fujitsu heralded the launch of the Trinidad Data Centre with a ribbon cutting ceremony at its new technology centre in Barataria on September 9th, 2009. The ceremony was attended by key Ministers and Government officials and executives of Fujitsu Caribbean and Fujitsu America Inc.
