KbPort to become value-added reseller of Fujitsu’s PalmSecure F-Pro biometrics technology

KbPort to combine improved PalmSecure F-Pro with other biometric technologies to enhance medical training

Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc.

Foothill Ranch, CA, January 11, 2018

Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc., a leader in innovative technology and front-end solutions has announced today that KbPort™ LLC, a Pittsburgh, PA-based leader in the medical training and teaching community, will become a distributor of Fujitsu PalmSecure® F-Pro biometrics technology.   KbPort will be combining Fujitsu’s PalmSecure F-Pro technology with other biometric technologies to provide students with highly secure two-factor authentication for login to training tools.   KbPort will be featuring this technology in their booth number 125 at IMSH 2018 (International Meeting for Simulation in Healthcare) annual show, January 14-16, 2018 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.  PalmSecure technology features the newest and smallest palm vein biometrics sensor based on industry-proven PalmSecure technology.  The F-Pro biometric sensor, now 50% smaller than previous sensors, offers improved environment tolerance, supporting a broader range of temperature and improved sunlight tolerance.

“Using Fujitsu’s PalmSecure F-Pro biometrics technology ensures that we are protecting the student’s information by using the most advanced tools available to follow the Family Educational Rights and Privacy ACT (FERPA) guidelines,” said Chuck Miller, president and CEO, KbPort LLC.  “By combining PalmSecure with the recording and debriefing components within the KbPort Simplicity Solution™, Fujitsu has allowed us once again to create a standard that others will follow.”

“We are delighted that KbPort will be one of the first users of our updated and improved PalmSecure F-Pro biometric technology,” said Randy Fox, vice president, sales, marketing, product solutions, Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc.  “As more activity takes place online like training and highly sensitive information exchanges, a higher focus on ensuring the correct identity of the user will be critical.

PalmSecure biometric palm vein sensors use a near-infrared light to capture a user’s palm vein pattern, generating a unique biometric template that is matched against the palm vein patterns of pre-registered users. Unlike other biometric readers, the PalmSecure device does not come into contact with the skin, making it extremely hygienic, non-intrusive and unrestricted by external factors such as skin types, topical lotions, and other conditions. Additionally, unlike other biometric technologies where a certain percentage of the public cannot register for one reason or another, PalmSecure technology has never failed to register a user.

Fujitsu’s biometric solutions,  PalmSecure sensors, PalmSecure for SSO (single sign-on) and V535 Tablet with Integrated F-Pro only recognize the palm vein pattern if blood is actively flowing within the individual’s veins, so forgery is virtually impossible. This advanced, vascular pattern recognition technology not only provides highly reliable authentication with low false accept and reject rates, but also allows for fast and easy enrollment.
