Plattsburgh Manufacturing, Logistics and Supply Chain Facility Continues Effort to Give Back to the Environment

Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc.

Plattsburgh, NY, May 31, 2012

Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc. (FFNA), in collaboration with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), planted nearly 1000 trees on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Recreational Park in Beekmantown, NY, and along the Heritage Trail. The NYSDEC’s Lake Champlain Basin Trees for Tribs Program is an off-shoot of the very successful initiative in the Hudson River Valley that began in 2007 and was responsible for planting more than 24,000 trees along 60,000 feet of shoreline. The program is supported by a grant from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service as part of the Obama Administration’s America’s Great Outdoors Initiative.

Approximately 1500 feet of eroded stream bank was planted with bare root trees supplied by the program and 40 larger trees donated by Fujitsu. The trees were all planted by volunteers from Fujitsu, and their families, to help restore habitat damaged during last year’s flooding and prevent future erosion.

The selected site, adjacent to the Beekmantown Highway department, was a length of streamline along Beekmantown’s Rea Brook. The Heritage trail is a one-half mile long trail along the shoreline that was created in 1999 as an Eagle Scout project and dedicated to "All those who have served in a war since the birth of this fine nation." The trail is lined with monuments to commemorate and honor those that have served.
