Integrated Document & Content Management

Are you still wasting time managing documents?

Two factors threaten to strangle the efficiency of modern organisations. The first is the exponential explosion in the volumes of information they must process. The second is the consolidation that is creating ever larger and more complex organisations and compounding the information explosion.

Many large businesses are experiencing a doubling in the volume of documents they handle every two years and there is an equally fast-developing need to add value to the process by increasing the speed and breadth of access to this information.

Although it can be argued that IT is contributing to increasing information flows, technology can also provide the fundamental solutions to managing them. Harness IT effectively in partnership with Fujitsu and you will unlock your organisation’s efficiency.

What is Document and Content Management?

Document management used to mean managing paper documents, using some form of indexing to aid retrieval. Document Image Processing systems delivered efficiency gains through improvements to the filing, accessing and processing of what were still basically paper-based systems. However, document management is no longer just about paper.

New business technologies have created an unprecedented variety of information sources, including paper, electronic, voice and multimedia files or “content”.

All of these need to be captured, stored, managed and distributed. Moreover, organisational structures and the scope of business processes have developed from small, individual discrete departments to fully integrated multinationals with thousands of employees, hundreds of partners and suppliers and, in some cases, millions of customers. As a consequence, there is immense pressure to have information that is widely available, easily accessible and in a useable format.

The Internet has changed the way organisations manage documents and content. Companies are seeing the advantages in consolidating systems and data and the ideal is now to build a single, virtual repository that can manage all enterprise content, irrespective of origin. This approach allows authorised users to access information anytime, anyplace through a standard web-browser.
