FUJITSU - A Japanese IT giant in Vietnam

Mr Mitsuhiro Kotani - General Director of FVL

Vietnam, October, 2003 — As early as Vietnam's Doi Moi was initiated in 1986, Japan became one of the first investors to explore this potential country. A great number of Japanese enterprises and industrial corps have rushed here to do business. Among them, the Fujitsu Group, who appeared in Vietnam since 1993, rises as a pioneer in information technology (IT) and telecommunications.

In its business strategy, the Group always regards Vietnam as one of the most important venues for its investment and contribution. At present, Fujitsu is running three establishments in Vietnam: Fujitsu Vietnam Limited (FVL); Fujitsu Computer Products of Vietnam (FCV) in Bien Hoa and VNPT-Fujitsu Telecommunication Systems Limited (VFT) in Ha Tay Province.

In 1994, the first Representative Office of Fujitsu Limited Japan, was opened in Hanoi. This is an important springboard for Fujitsu’s business to root deeply in Vietnam. Only three years later, in 1997 the operation of the second Representative Office was declared in Ho Chi Minh City, the country’s biggest city. Since then, these two (2) Fujitsu Representative Offices have successfully conducted the mission to promote Fujitsu’s growing businesses in Vietnam.

In 1999, the two Fujitsu Representative Offices completed the mission of expanding Fujitsu business activities both in the North and the South of Vietnam. These two Rep. Offices, then, stepped back in order for the establishment of a new entity, Fujitsu Vietnam Limited, known as FVL today. FVL Headquarter is based in Hanoi and its branch is located in HCMC. In addition, FVL also established a technical support center in Thang Long Industrial Park, Dong Anh, Hanoi and another center in Bien Hoa Industrial zone in Dong Nai province.

Besides FVL, we also have Fujitsu Computer Products of Vietnam (FCV), which was established in Bien Hoa Industrial Park, Dong Nai Province, in 1995. This factory with a total investment capital of US$ 198.8 million specializes in manufacturing Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) and Printed Wiring Board (PWB) to meet the increasing needs of the fast-paced business world nowadays.

Another Vietnam-based Fujitsu factory, VNPT-Fujitsu Telecommunication Systems Limited (VFT), is a joint venture established in 1997 in the northern province of Ha Tay. The VFT modern factory is proud to design, produce, install and maintain the leading advanced photoconduction and SDH wireless systems.

Back to FVL, taking pride to be one of the pioneers in software and service business, FVL aims at making active contribution to the development of IT and telecom industry of Vietnam. FVL major business is focused on:
