Senior Vice President, Planning and Development

Bill Erickson, senior vice president of planning and development at Fujitsu Network Communications Inc, oversees planning, management and support of Fujitsu optical transport, network management, and data solutions product lines. He also leads the business development organization, which drives the company’s business plan and business strategies.

Bill began his career in telecommunications in 1984, as a member of the technical staff at Bellcore (now Telcordia), the corporation that developed TL1 and SONET requirements. He then joined Siemens Transmission Systems in 1988 as a systems engineer, working on their optical transport portfolio, before joining Fujitsu in 1990 as a manager in the strategic planning department. Since then he has held a number of leadership positions including senior director of access and transport planning, vice president of product planning, and senior vice president of sales, marketing and services at Fujitsu Network Communications.

Bill is a recipient of the ANSI T1 Significant Contributor award for his work on the SONET standard in 1995. He also served as a core team member responsible for the development and launch of the industry-leading FLM and FLASHWAVE® optical networking product lines.

Bill holds a bachelor’s degree in both physics and mathematics from Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J., and a master’s degree in computer science from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J.
