DESCRIPTION

Segment displays based on liquid crystal material (LCD) are very common if only a small number of characters or symbols should be displayed. This application-note gives a rough overview about how this kind of display works and illuminates some different methods to control a LCD by a microcontroller. Further, the connection of alphanumeric-LC modules with integrated segment- and character- controller to any parallel-I/O-port of a microcontroller will be discussed.
