Fujitsu is committed to full compliance to the European Parliament Directive 2002/95/EC, Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), across its entire imaging product line. The law requires member state implementation by August 2004 with product compliance by July 2006.
The Directive was enacted into law by the countries of the European Union in February 2003. It restricts certain hazardous substances in an effort to address waste management problems linked to materials that are likely to pose risks to human health and the environment. Specifically, the RoHS Directive addresses the elimination of the following substances:
Fujitsu is on track to beat the proposed timeline and will eliminate all hazardous substances, including substances restricted under the RoHS Directive as well as other global standards, by the end of its 2005 fiscal year.
