1. What is SCSI? What is USB?
The acronym SCSI (pronounced "scuzzy") stands for Small Computer System Interface. SCSI is an interface standard for connecting peripheral devices to PCs and can be found on a majority of Fujitsu scanners. Please visit www.scsita.org or www.adaptec.com for more information about the SCSI interface standard.
USB, or Universal Serial Bus is a standard computer interface that is included with the majority of personal computers. The USB interface allows the user to connect external devices including scanners, digital cameras, printers, keyboards, and mice to the PC. The current USB specification is 2.0. The 2.0 standard supports and is backwards compatible with the previous specification, 1.1. For more information go to www.usb.org.

4. Which scanner is best for me?
Fujitsu has a wide variety of scanning models with speeds ranging from 15 to 120 pages per minute. With our wide selection of scanners, customers can easily choose a scanner that includes the features they require, the duty cycle to match their workload, and a cost that meets their budget. Fujitsu is proud to partner with authorized Fujitsu scanner resellers. A Fujitsu authorized reseller partner can recommend a scanner model based your needs, provide software, recommend a Fujitsu service program, and provide on-site installation and training. For a list of Fujitsu authorized resellers visit:
5. What are TWAIN and ISIS?
TWAIN and ISIS are industry standard scanner drivers. They allow you to seamlessly connect your scanner to hundreds of scanning applications. Please go to Drivers Downloads for a complete list of drivers and supported platforms.
6. What scanning software do we need?
The type of software required for each customer varies depending on the desired functionality that the customer requires. Fujitsu includes Adobe Acrobat 7.0 standard with all of our current scanner models. We also include ScandAll 21 with all of our models with the exception of the ScanSnap series. For a complete list of ISV partners and software applications visit our Independent Software Guide at:

10. Will this scanner work with my operating system?
Please go to the Scanner Drivers Downloads for a complete list of drivers and supported platforms.
11. Do you make any scanners that work with Mac's?
Yes, the Fujitsu ScanSnap S510M 18ppm and S300M 8ppm duplex color scanners are specifically designed for the Macintosh platform. They have one touch scanning to Portable Document Format (PDF) and comes bundled with useful software utilities. The ScanSnap S510M 18ppm and S300M 8ppm offer everything you need in one box to scan, store and retrieve your paper documents. For more information please click here. In addition, there are several third party software developers that have developed drivers and applications that are Macintosh compatible and work with our departmental, workgroup and production scanners. Please contact us for more information.
12. What is color dropout?
Color dropout is a feature that is used to ignore specific colored ink(s) from preprinted forms/documents during the scanning process. This can be used to remove colored backgrounds or colored text templates in the scanned image. Depending on the model, Fujitsu scanners are capable of dropping out colors in the red, green or blue color spectrum. Please review each scanners brochure for more information about color dropout or contact info@fcpa.fujitsu.com

14. Will this scanner handle our thin paper?
Scanning thin documents is a tough task for any high-speed scanner. However, Fujitsu scanners excel in paper handling, image quality, and overall reliability. Many factors will determine how well a scanner can feed a given document set. For example, scanning similar document sets is much easier than scanning documents of mixed sizes and weights in the same batch. For difficult document types, the best way to ensure that a scanner will be able to feed them properly is to have them test scanned. Please contact your local Fujitsu reseller or info@fcpa.fujitsu.com for additional information about document test scanning and on-site scanner demonstrations.
15. Where can I buy a Fujitsu scanner?
Please click here for a list of authorized purchasing methods.
16. What is the difference between these scanners?
The main set of differences within the Fujitsu scanner product line include scanning speed, daily duty cycle, scanner size/weight, image enhancement, and list price. Fujitsu offers the widest selection of high-speed scanners in the industry with advanced features on our low-end workgroup models all the way up to our high-speed production scanners.
17. What are consumable parts?
Consumable parts are mainly used in each scanner's automatic document feeder (ADF) and naturally wear out based on the number of documents scanned. Consumables are an important part of the cleaning and preventative maintenance routine that is required in order for your scanner to maintain it's highest performance level. Consumables can be purchased individually, as part of our ScanAid consumable and cleaning kit, or included with our ScanCare on-site preventative maintenance program. Please visit the Service Offerings for more information.

The ScanSnap scanner is a personal document imaging solution. It includes intelligent document processing of images that make it an ideal fit for any business professional looking for a paper to PDF solution. The automatic processing and ease of use make it an ideal solution for any business user, regardless of their knowledge of scanner drivers and software.
