The Fujitsu FM3 family of 32-bit general purpose microcontrollers features the industry's leading-edge ARM CortexTM-M3 CPU, providing a scalable platform for many industrial applications. The MCUs include a host of robust peripheral features, including motor control timers, ADCs and a wide range of communication interfaces. Customers can select the best device from a wide range of products, with available packages ranging from 32pin to 176pin and Flash memory densities between 32KB and 1MB. The MCUs are based on Fujitsu’s highly reliable (100,000 erase/write cycles) and high-speed (0 wait states at 72MHz) embedded Flash process. All MCUs are produced in Fujitsu’s own wafer fabs, offering greater control over quality, availability and costs. The wide operation supply voltage range up to 5.5V improves the signal to noise ratio, resulting in a robust design that is unique among Cortex-M3 microcontroller families.
The FM3 MCU family is split into four groups: High-Performance, Basic, Low-Power and Ultra-Low-Leak Groups. See the product line-up table below for detailed information about each group, including datasheets.
Devices in the High-Performance Group offer higher processing speeds and highly integrated peripheral features. The devices feature a CPU running up to 144MHz, a full array of peripherals and multiple communications interfaces, including Ethernet, USB 2.0, and CAN. The MCUs support inverter control functions able to control up to three motors. Products are available with integrated Flash memory of up to 1MB, a wide 2.7V to 5.5V operating voltage and package options ranging from 100pin to 176pin.
High-Performance Group devices are ideal for applications that require high-speed processing, including factory automation systems such as system controls, office automation equipment, motor control, servo control and inverter control systems.

The low-voltage operation of this product group helps reduce power consumption during operation and extend battery life. Power consumption in active mode is about 200uA/MHz. This group supports 1.8V to 3.3V supply voltage, memory options up to 288KB Flash / 32KB RAM having dual-operation Flash, and package options ranging from 64 pin to 100pin.
Having integrated USB, RTC, an LCD controller and an HDMI-CEC receiver, the Low-Power Group is optimal for a wide range of applications, including home appliances with digital displays, AV applications that require AV equipment connections, battery-powered mobile products, and healthcare equipment that use liquid crystal displays.

This group offers lower standby mode current by having six types of power-saving modes that use clock gating and power-gating technology. When using RTC mode under date and time management, the product draws an extremely low 1.7μA of power. In deep-standby RTC mode, where power to the Flash memory is shut off, the device draws an even lower 1.3μA, making this group ideal for use in sensor-network equipment as well as in all kinds of metering devices. This series inherits and refines the peripheral functions found in the High-Performance and Basic Groups, but offers dramatically lowered power requirements and reduced costs. The MCUs are available in 48pin to 100pin packages.
The Ultra-Low-Leak Group devices feature inverter motor control, an LCD controller and a real-time clock. A wide voltage range of 1.8V to 5.5V and low standby mode current makes these products well-suited for battery-powered applications including sensor networks, home electronics, and digital entertainment equipment.
