Fujitsu has appointed Patrik Eriksson as Global Vice President and Head of the Radio Unit Business and Development, reporting to Masaki Taniguchi, Head of the Mobile Systems Business Unit. In this newly created role, Patrik will lead the company’s global radio portfolio and development strategy. He brings to Fujitsu over 25 years of experience in wireless product management and engineering leadership, including more than 15 years at Ericsson, where he most recently served as Head of Radio Systems and Technology.

As growing Open RAN adoption drives a paradigm shift across the telecoms industry, Patrik will help unify and guide Fujitsu's Open RAN leadership worldwide, including continued growth of virtualized O-RAN-compliant solutions to enable true network transformation.

“We are at an inflection point in the evolution of Open RAN 5G architecture, changing the way networks are built and operated to enable greater performance, cost-efficiency and sustainability,” said Eriksson. “I look forward to collaborating with Fujitsu customers and partners worldwide as we help to advance development of a strong, resilient Open RAN ecosystem.”

Patrik holds a Master of Science in Engineering from Luleå University of Technology in Sweden. He is based in Texas.
