Fujitsu Customers Prevail at European Retail Solutions Awards

Frisco, TX, June 15, 2006 — Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc. today announced that three of its customers were presented European Retail Solutions Awards last week, based on technology implementations managed by Fujitsu and its sister company, Fujitsu Services of the United Kingdom.

Fujitsu and The Body Shop were awarded the ‘Project Implementation of the Year’ for an electronic point-of-sale (EPoS) upgrade project. More than 1,600 Fujitsu TeamPoS 2000 units were rolled out to more than 700 Body Shop stores in seven countries. The retailer is already witnessing numerous benefits from the new system.

The 'EPoS Initiative of the Year' was awarded to Fujitsu and Staples for implementing Fujitsu’s GlobalSTORE software platform in the retailers’ locations throughout Germany and Portugal. The team was challenged with balancing the need for a standardized EPoS system with a flexible architecture that could be tailored to meet the needs of each country market. GlobalSTORE’s flexible point-of-sale application is designed to adapt and conform to drastically different cultures, processes, languages and legal requirements of multiple countries without modifying the application’s code.

'The Best use of Technology in a Hospitality Sector' was awarded to Whitbread - TGI Friday’s for its hand-held EPoS solution, which was designed and delivered in partnership with MICROS and Fujitsu. The system has significantly impacted productivity and customer service at TGI Friday’s 47 UK restaurants.

Fujitsu Transaction Solutions designed and developed the hardware and software behind each implementation, and Fujitsu Services managed installation and ongoing maintenance.

"We are delighted with the growing list of leading global retailing companies that have decided to partner with Fujitsu," said Austen Mulinder, president and CEO of Fujitsu Transaction Solutions. "But it’s even more gratifying to see that these awards reflect the real business value our solutions are delivering for them."

The European Retail Solutions Awards celebrate achievements in retail technology and the teams behind them. The sixth annual event was held on June 6, 2006 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole in Birmingham, U.K.
