American Heart Association “Swing Fore Heart” Golf Classic Passes Halfway Mark for 2006 Fundraising Goal

Presbyterian Hospital of Plano Announced as Co-Presenting Sponsor

Dallas, TX, March 7, 2006 — The American Heart Association (AHA) today announced it has achieved more than $100,000 in sponsor commitments, well past the halfway mark to its “Swing Fore Heart” Golf Classic, to be held June 8 at The Tribute Golf Club in The Colony, TX. The event provides vital funds for research and education in the fight against heart disease and stroke.

The fundraising milestone has been achieved due in large part to the addition of Presbyterian Hospital of Plano as a co-presenting sponsor, along with founding presenting sponsor Frisco-based Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc., according to the AHA.

The event raised more than $125,000 net last year and the tournament committee has set a goal of $150,000 net in 2006, its sixth year. That would rank the “Swing Fore Heart Golf Classic” among the top 15 charity golf tournaments in North Texas.

“We are thrilled to welcome Presbyterian Hospital in Plano as our co-presenting sponsor this year,” said Austen Mulinder, president and CEO of Fujitsu Transaction Solutions. “The American Heart Association has long been one of Fujitsu’s core non-profit organizations supported by our corporate citizenship strategy, and we expect that Presbyterian will help raise a record amount of money to assist with vital heart disease and stroke research and education.”

Mulinder is also chairman of the tournament and a member of the Dallas Division Board of Directors for AHA.

In addition to presenting sponsors Fujitsu and Presbyterian, other sponsor commitments to date include:

  • Ace of Hearts – Healthsouth Plano Rehabilitation Hospital; Powervar
  • King of Hearts – Aviall Services, Inc. and Epson America;
  • Wild Card – eVerge Group; Progressive IT; SSA Global; TPG Inc. Point of Sale; Wachovia
  • Longest Drive – Freedman Metals
  • Silent Auction Sponsor – Mario A. Baker Foundation
